[Feedback Thread Continued] Mercy Updates - Jan 30, 2018

Would be interesting to have all abilities like that.

  • Reinhardt/other shield tanks can’t use shield, if there are no teammates behind/next to them;
  • All damage dealers deal no damage, unless firing through shield;
  • Flankers can deal damage only from behind;

Increase level of teamwork to extreme, so single player can’t do anything.

Whole hardheartedly agree… Some suggestions on the first one.

“E” ability could be Valkyrie for 5 seconds of flight, BACK up to high speed as a quick escape. Sort of like Moira has (an yeah, they are already calling for a Nerf to Moira… ::SIGH::), because Mercy’s current flight is too slow to do anything and is easily targeted and it would be more for survival.

I would LIKE to survive pulling a “Huge Rez”, but I’d take the possibility of dying but having a usable and game changing Ult even with low survivability to what we currently have. Of course, with a quick escape Valkyrie ability, push “E” after you Rez everyone to get clear and start healing those that need it from the air as you glide down would work well…

As far as her current Ult and fixing it… I really don’t see how. Your suggestion MIGHT work, I would have to play with it and see for myself. But in all honesty, I miss, and I mean really REALLY miss, Huge Rez. It had risk and reward, even if you were only able to Rez 2 people. Rez on demand wasn’t fun, Rez as PART of an Ultimate was pretty good. But seriously, unless you were a “Bad Mercy” and ONLY Rezed when your entire team died, most of the time it was between 2-4 people at a time during a Tempo Rez.

If they actually land a hit…

The first I heard of anyone even wanting it changed was when the rework was put on the PTR, and when Jeff had mentioned Hide and Rez in the video I legit had to look up what that even was and why it was considered a problem.

If hiding sometimes is the best way to turn the tide in your favor, what’s the problem? All heroes do that sometimes dont they? Most Mercy’s would Rez 2-3 on point and not have everyone do a suicide run or anything, anyway.

Same with most of us. I had never even heard of “Hide and Rez”. Of course, the first video I found on it was xQc screaming at his team’s Mercy for NOT doing just that. Then I saw a few of people on top of building just sitting there waiting for their team to die, pulling “Huge Rez” then sitting back down. I really think that one was in a Quickplay rather than Competitive since, why would you NOT want to help your team heal up after getting wiped and people still on the point?

I don’t know if making mass res interruptible is the answer. To mass res, you already had to jump out into the middle of the fight, and before they added the invuln you were basically guaranteed dead if you tried to res more than 3.

If we’re looking to bring back mass res with cast delay, she needs to be able to live through it, either having invuln but NOT displacement immune (ie. she won’t take damage but stuff like concussive blast would still cancel it, but honestly it just feels bad to waste an ult like that…) or to add LOS requirements or other restrictions.

I think res needs to be instant again, and if we keep 2.0, it needs to at least be instant in Valkyrie. Get rid of the chain heals/boosts, but give her the free flight and resurrect on a shorter cool down (make it so that within the duration of Valkyrie, eg. 10s, she’s able to res x amount… say 3 or 4, then adjust cool down accordingly.)

See I actually like the idea of suicide 5 man rez, it’s an obvious disadvantage but at the same time it still gives rez power, it forces the 5 man rez to be the last stand so to speak, that big push in overtime with your second wind and I think that’s both amazing to watch and an amazing feeling.
That and it solves the hide and rez problem because 5 man rez would be discouraged since it leaves your team without a main healer.

Also while Valk as an E, I mean it’s a goood idea, not the one I’d go for personally but it’s a good idea nonetheless

But are we going crazy asking for the mass rez with cast? It’s suicide, you never do it. In my opinion, maximum 3 res with LoS and limited range (10y?)

Sooooo… mercy before the invulnerability buff?

Yup. An exposed mercy with no other team members around? uhhh… yeah, just ignore her.

Not bad, but are you giving her power back somewhere else?

Which 3? You have 5 people down, at roughly the same distance, and the game in it’s infinite wisdom Rezes Hanzo, Widowmaker, and Torbjorn when what you really needed were Reinhardt and Winston… See the problem?
Like the basic plan, but with the way the game has a tendency of choosing the wrong people on many occasions (E.G. Random Hero, enemy team gets a Pharah/Mercy and you get 4 snipers…)…

You know, I remember people saying the reason hide and rez was a problem was they didn’t want Mercy’s to tell their team to die.

Out of several hundred hours I can only think of one time I intentnionally asked someone to die and that was a very specific circumtance involving a Rein desperatelly stalling having survived a wombo combo that killed 4 others and he was going to die regardless.

The “Die on point” that everyone seems to point to was a short hand that was meant to say "I have rez and I’m almost back, don’t disengage,"
And for me half the time I yelled that comment it was in the method of “Keep fighting and don’t die!” If I had died and was coming back I was telling my team to stall so they didn’t die before I got back.

TBH, if we’re gonna limit her res, I think it’s best to give it to her in Valkyrie. Get rid of the chain heals, unlimited ammo, but give her charges if res or res on something like a 5s cool down depending on valk duration.

It’s a sad day when your e ability has a bigger impact on the round than your ultimate.

Yes exactly, pre invuln and also pre 1 second regen Mercy

I like those two aspects on paper as long as we can give Mercy power somewhere else, give her a powerful E ability of some kind whether it be a watered down Valk or some new ability, I’ve got a list of idea’s if you’d like me to send it.

I actually didn’t really play Mercy before the regeneration, but how did that work? All supports have a way of sustaining themselves (albeit some of those are limited in the case of Ana), so it’s not fair if mercy doesn’t.

All I ever heard was “If you die, die on Point. I have Rez.” Never once heard, till I looked it up on YouTube, “Die on point” by itself. There was always a qualifier before it. They may have edited it out on the YouTube video as well.
I was playing Reinhardt at the time, with others around me actually USING my shield for protection for a change.

She did actually have regen before the 1 second regen, before that it was 3 seconds, so it was basically how ze nregens except it was her entire health pool rather then 150 of it and if anything got through that the damage was permenant.
I think this did 2 things. One it made Mercy a lot more cautious and risky which is part of the reason 5 man rez was never a problem before the invuln patch.
2. It made her easier to kill. I’m 50/50 on going back to 3 second regen for this reason but it had it’s up’s and downs
3. It made me ship Mercy and Soldier because his biotic field was Mercy’s saving grace on many an occassion

With the new hack and most likely Sombra meta, if you manage to at least pop Valk, after the hack, your ultimate will become “Ultimate fast walking” :joy:.

Gosh this is more and more of a bad joke :sweat_smile:.

And being that there are 3 ways to kill the Mercy along with more time to do so than any other ultimate in the game, doing so shouldn’t be that hard to do, so long as you actually move to do it.

Except now you have the positioning advantage and the first shot, along with lots of firepower within the first shot. A mass-rez is a group of free kills if you played your cards well, or if the enemy Mercy played their cards poorly.

Lol.

Going by that logic, if anyone expended an ultimate that was countered by Resurrect, it was simply poor timing on their part, which then further weakens your argument altogether.

How about you make a counterpoint that isn’t a double-standard?
