I have recently had my account banned out of the blue. I contacted support and after a long time they told me I had been cheating.
I was worried the cause might be my new mouse (it has side buttons) that I use for abilities so I asked support if I should buy a new one or reset my PC or something. But they never responded
I really love this game and I don’t want to lose all my progress. Has anyone had this issue before? Any idea how I can prove that I wasn’t doing anything? Any tips or advice on what might falsely trigger an anti-cheat measure?
You got an auto-ban via spam reports. Blizzard clowntentainment has a nice working report system. And they don’t care what mouse u use or do u have actual cheats or not, they just see 10-15 reports on you and that is enough for them to call you a cheater.
Yep seems like it, I also got falsely banned today, the only reason they give me was this:
I went ahead and looked back over the account and saw that you had been penalized for actions deemed to be considered exploitation of the game. While I am unable to provide additional details into the specifics, we have determined this action will not be overturned.
What exploit did I use exactly? they are probably not gonna tell me but 100% sure I didnt used any exploit lol
This is an automated response they do if you insist on appealing. I got something similar (too lazy to go and search it on email) not humans speaking in a nutshell. Nobody actually review neither these reports or tickets. They have nice stats you know 100 000 banned! Imagine reviewing all of these manually. But man, 100k! (Put here Moira meme) I guess they want a medal.
Keep in mind that blizzard admins are closing such topics so I don’t know how long it will stay up.
If someone cares I also opened a topic regarding the abused reporting system, if they could also fix that it would be a great help:
I hope we can resolve this. I really am a legitimate player who has not violated any rules. I really feel quite helpless and I hope somehow the support team can help. I have no idea how to prove something I didn’t do and it seems like support communication is very one-sided
Does anyone know if any of the devs are aware of these false bans?
No one has officially acknowledged the issue, but it is pretty obvious that the system isn’t working as intended when even professional overwatch league players (paid by blizzard) got false banned for cheating.
Hopefully they don’t just unban these famous players and actually look into the issue - with a real human review.
My boyfriend got banned too after his account got hacked and was banned not only OW but the entire account. He’s been playing for six years on this account and now they generated automated replies on every ticket and appeal he applied with no clear explanation and no further investigation. It is very devastating to him and disappointing. I am sorry about your situation but I’m afraid the chance of getting your account back through appealing is almost impossible because it seems like no real human agent is looking into this matter.
Same thing happened to my account, have only been playing quickplay in order to get to 50 wins and got spam reported in one of my games (but probably more than one game). After appealing the ban I got an automated response back telling me they are not going to revert the penalty. I’ve never cheated in ow and never will, this just sucks as I can’t create a new account since you need a phone number and the only one I have is connected to this account. I don’t know what to do now, just seems like I’m screwed and there is no way for me to play overwatch again without getting a new phone and phone number…
I wasn’t aware of that (though, are we sure they didn’t cheat?), but it’s nothing new that system absolutely doesn’t work. Meanwhile I troll to capture evidence and report people with sonar headsets, and they never get banned. In fact, I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen anyone banned for cheating, but if you flame in chat, it happens instantly.
I don’t think they care. And you’re still playing, so… I guess Blizz doesn’t consider cheating a problem at this point.
