The reporting system is exploited on a daily basis by stacks who will simply abuse it to get someone automatically suspended.
While I understand that an automation is necessary on some level (no one can possibly check every report), it should atleast try to do something to avoid false reports.
You can literally report people on a whim, it takes 5 seconds to do so and it will.still count like a legit report. No one has ever been punished for false reporting from my experience.
I could get a report for “abusive chat” for using real offenses, or for saying “gg” at the end of a match, and the system does nothing to differentiate the 2 cases.
And the same goes for all the other reporting categories; I’ve seen in most matches players being accused and reported for cheating even on unsuspectable heroes such as Pharah or Junkrat; or of “smurfing” when simply the matchmaking put them in a lower lobby (that clearly shouldn’t count as smurfing).
So why not make it mandatory to give details when filing a report? If you report someone for abusive chat, make it mandatory to describe what was the offense and at which time was it said (for easier checking). Same for cheating, it should be mandatory to file a report with the matchcode and timestamp of where the supposed cheating occurred.
If a system like this works out there should be hopefully a much less amount of reports, and the ones that will be filed contain enough details for a quick human review. Likewise if a report contains false information the one who filed it should be punished instead.
