Error Applying Updates

After season 2 updated, i cannot enter any game even practice range in overwatch 2, it said Applying Updates with an infinite loading loops. I wonder if this problem bcs I downloaded pre-release content before the update.

I tried to reflush dns, resetting windows host file, deleting temps, reinstalling battlenet and blizzard, updating my windows. But still nothing happened. Please help me

if you found a solution can you lmk

Is this what you mean?

I have the same issue, the game is literally unplayable as a result. I’ve tried a DNS reflush, Host File Reset, uninstall/reinstall, nothing seems to fix it. For anybody else unsure of what I mean by the error making the game unplayable; Blizzard does NOT want me playing Overwatch 2 apparently... - YouTube . Not sure what else there is to do, but apparently I need to play literally any other game because I can’t play Overwatch right now.

same here, same error, can’t play after season 2 release. gg blizzard nice game !

I solved it updating OS to Windows 11.

i don’t think is the problem, i have also formated my windows 10 and install again windows 10, the problem still persist.

I solved it when I updated from Windows 10 to 11.

I may have found something. I did some digging and found an old fix for a similar error. SO FAR, its working, I can actually play the game again.

Add the following to your Hosts File:
99.84.181.88 overwatch-hotfix.cdn. blizzard. com
remove the spaces so it looks like a proper link. I had to add spaces so i could actually send this message.

Please let me know if anyone finds a fix to this. I am trying to update to windows 11 to see if it fixes it.

I saw this error on a high light. But now I get it on games. Just got suspended. Always wanted to stop playing this game. Didnt think blizzard would help me do it.

So I tried a different role, and it worked. then tried dps again and it worked. Now played 5 games total. The worst part this error it appears random for me. So any given time I could get it.

and yup… wanted to see a highlight to end my night and I get it again.

Same problem on PlayStation 4.

  • Tried to enter a Competitive match
  • Found a game, and proceeded to ā€œApplying Updatesā€ screen
  • Game hung on screen for 5 minutes before I started a system restart
  • Rebooted the game and shows that I am suspended (assuming that the server believes I left the game)

Does Blizzard even use proper DevOps (CI/CD) these days? Also how have they not figured out how to use exit codes to differentiate whether a players leaves or if there is a server/client error?

[ How to Fix Infinite Loop Error Applying Update Loading in Overwatch 2]

**

Try to ā€œReset Network Settingsā€

  1. Go to Network & Internet
  2. Advanced Network Settings > Click Network Reset.
  3. Then you gotta disable your antivirus & firewall. (Don’t skip this part, Because your Firewall will turned on automatically since you click reset your network)
  4. If you understand about reflushing dns, netsh winsock reset with command prompt you can go give it a try.
  5. Next, Restart your PC.

If problem still persist then:

  1. Update to the latest System Update on your, Operating System.
  2. Restart both your router and PC.
  3. Use Another Internet Connection (I tried personal mobile hotspot)
  4. Try entering the practice range in overwatch. Then change back your internet to your first internet connection /Wi-Fi.

This fixed my problem with applying update infinite loops in overwatch 2. Twice.

Hey everyone.

I had this issue for about a week (after the last patch), tried everything really, delete cache, ipconfig, flushdns every little step to solve the problem.

One of my mates told me to rename the folder where the game was installed because I made that folder and contained accented punctuation marks. I was sceptic at first but why not? Have tried everything already as I mentioned before. And miracle happened instantly, entered the game, worked just like fine.

Oh and I had this issue with Starcraft 2 as well, solution was the same.

So maybe guys, check or rename your folder names and thats going to help you.

I am really disappointed in Blizz support, they have answered nonesense 2 times and were not able to help me. I always had great experience with the support, that changed unfortunately.

i have the EXACT same issue as the one in the video , ive been forced to play anything BUT overwatch 2

This happened last night when entering a comp game. I loaded a pinned replay from the last patch and this came up. Of course I never loaded into the game, got the loss, and was suspended. Very like this game to lower my hopes of ranking up with this on top of horribly mismatched games.
