Counterpicking is not "cringe"

I feel like this is more recent to the game. Though to your point, this may be closer to them not actually knowing how to better resolve the counter swapping issue. It’s only recently (a few months) that they came out and acknowledged that there’s a desire for 6v6 and why some of that sentiment has grown in the community.

I don’t think throughout most of OW2’s balancing history we’ve seen a lot that suggests that counter swapping isn’t the intended play pattern. Mostly hitting those that are over performing for whatever reason flavor of the month has decided for us in the meta :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s just my opinion though. Regardless, I don’t have confidence that they will find the sweet spot to address this with the current format, though I do think you’re right in that they’ll try to some extent.

Just got out of a match where we lost because nobody swapped to any effective counter except me. Literally carried the first round, swapped to counter their Sniper/Junkrat, and (our widow couldn’t), lost the 2nd round, swapped back to counter the tank because our tank couldn’t do that either, leaving their Junkrat/Sniper free to kill everyone else.

If you don’t actively play WITH your team and against the enemy team, it’s tantamount to throwing at that point.

One player cannot counter in every role and still have a winning match unless the rest of the team pulls their weight too.

It’s true. This is a team based game. I can make up for my teammates lack of sexiness, intelligence, and awesomeness. But I am going to need some help to a actually deal with their team, unfortunately. That’s just the way the cookie crumbles.

I read this as “lack of sexism” and thought we were playing different games

This entire thread screams “I’m only good at one hero, so if you counter me, you’re bad, and need a crutch.”

Meanwhile the Tracer/Sombra/Genji farming supports because they chose Ana/Zen, which are counters, is completely fine to be countering.

Just admit you’re a hypocrite with less words and more to the point.

Cringe is to not counterpick and even cringier is to flame people for counterpicking.

I am adaptable. If the team needs more sexism, I am here to help!

Don’t want to be called cringe? Don’t do cringeworthy things. Counterswitching is definitely in, “Wow cringe”, territory.

Except in cases where the switch is for you to not just auto-die. Like when I switch from Juno to Kiri so the Sombra can’t just delete me. But if you immediately switch to Zarya when a Dva rolls you? Cringe.

That’s not hypocrisy, Flare sama. I do not believe people should be counterswapping my teammates either.

:muscle::triumph:

But if you run counter D.Va into a immobile team, by your own definition, you’re cringe.

Just picking a hero is countering someone somewhere, as it’s designed to be that way, you’re all just complaining because someone stopped your flashy wanna be potg, or your ability to just pew pew pew without thinking.

Nah. Someone leads with Rammatra? That’s fine. Someone already playing a Reinhardt counter dies and then swaps to Rammatra? Cringe. That’s the subtle difference.

Why would I swap to someone who would get equally farmed?
Of course I’d counter. That’s what the conversation is about.

I don’t see the difference here. Is it just TANK counter/swapping/picking/choosing/switching that’s cringe?

There is no difference. It’s a counter, and by these silly people’s definition, is cringe.

Just calling out their hypocrisy.

But… There is objectively a difference? It is about the intention. You cannot call people hypocrites while ignoring the subtext. I mean, you can, but it is strange. Not that there is anything wrong with being strange, Flare sama!

It’s funny that people think Reaper still counters Winston after all the changes.

MY Reaper counters their Winston. We OG like that, baby. My hatred keeps the pimp hand strong.

Yet, if I swap to not be countered by their pick, I’m cringe, but it’s perfectly fine for them to just have the easy way of having the advantage in every match up.

Thank you for confirming what I said, it’s just hypocrisy.

Confidence is key, as they say.

No, you are not cringe, Flare sama. If you do not want to play Reinhardt into Rammatra, you can swap with honor!

Well, yes, but no. I dig that you are really into that word, I just do not see it. I am not at that level yet, Flare sama. Perhaps one day I will c it.

:muscle::sunglasses:

Just saying, by the way they’ve all responded, it’s been hypocritical.

I’m not going to stay on a hero that my match up isn’t favorable with, so I will counter pick in return. I’m not going to be punished for picking a hero at the start of the match that ends up being countered by the enemy tank or DPS.

Why is it fine for them to be able to counter, and have the advantage, but it’s cringe, and bad when I swap off to someone who either counters or evens the odds?

Why would I stay on Zen, or Ana, when the enemy team is running Sombra/Tracer? Why would I not swap to Moira, Brig, Kiri, or Bapt?

Why would I stay on JQ, when the enemy team is running poke, and anti heal/cleanse?

Seriously, I don’t get any of your guy’s logic of “Countering is bad.” just because you no longer have the advantage in your match ups.
