I think its either stronger or weaker depending on what hero we are talking about.
Half the tanks, supports and non-standard DPS are all easier to counterpick than ever.
Meanwhile, trying to counterpick a popular dive tank or hitscan/flanker DPS is just not possible unless its with another popular dive tank or hitscan/flanker DPS.
Long are the days of Mei terrorizing Soldier 76 or Symmetra terrorizing Genji/Tracers. Now only hitscans counter hitscans, and dive tanks cant be stopped, only counter dived.
Have you thought that just because is game design doesnt mean is GOOD GAME DESIGN?
Again this didnt happened in 6v6 back in ow 1 cause you had a nother tank to cover each other weaknesses and even if the enemy counterswapped you had a bit of leeway to play in

Eh, the way you typed it as a second quote did make it seem as if you were the one who said it. That’s less reading comprehension diff and more a presentation problem, in my humble opinion. However, with more context we can now discern the guy complaining was schizophrenic.

And the devs agree, hence the recent buffs/nerfs making tank matchups less binary. D. Va and Winston are a pretty even matchup, and they said they were looking into the D. Va versus Zarya matchup too with her having some kind of help against beams.
I’m all for moving away from Counterwatch, but until then, swapping to give yourself better matchups isn’t “cringe”, especially if you actively enjoy playing the hero you swap to. That’s just called playing the game.
K, I’ll just continue to play Mercy and get farmed 5 times by their backline Sombra before I swap. Bet my team won’t even complain.

I’ve tried giving tanks the benefit of the doubt and mirror then they just counterswap for the rest of the match. Tank players deserve nothing.
So it’s only cringe if they pick Brig then? What if they like Brig?

I don’t care enough to go back through this entire convo to see where the miscommunication is tbh.
Point is, counterswapping can be cringe if you do it constantly, especially onto heroes you don’t enjoy and are not good at. Counterswapping is not cringe inherently.
If our team is getting farmed by a Widow, I will gladly take the opportunity to pick my main Sombra and make her life much harder. If I’m getting bullied in the back by a Sombra I will gladly take the opportunity to swap to my girl Brig and beat your cheeks senseless.

Keep in mind this is in regards to one game that was going terribly cause my friend was testing out new characters and feeding her butt off.
It’s called banter. Hyperbole. A joke.
That is how the game is played at higher ratings typically, yeah. You swap around to counter your opponent rather than sit on one character forever.
Don’t really like it. 5v5 has more heavily encouraged swapping as it has a bigger impact on the game. But that is the design intention right now, for better or for worse.

If you counterswap my low tier Reinhardt immediately, I am sorry to say that you are a nerd. I do not make the rules. There is absolutely no reason you cannot play your main against the Almighty God of Throwing. He is one of my worst heroes and Reinhardt himself is a freaking pinata.
I do not even mind playing against Rammatra. It’s that I have to do it every single game that makes me hate your kind, no offense intended. Uwu.
Optimus Primehardt will never fall to Rammegatron. I might literally fall, but I win. The Autobots still believe in me. Nobody actually respects Rammegatron. They just fear him. There’s a difference.

I don’t think it is the intention. Balance changes have been slowly being made over time to reduce the counterswap problems for tanks.
Winston vs D. Va is more even. We know D. Va is getting changes to make her better against beams like Zarya.
The issue is that a big part of the tank roster can’t really get these kinds of changes with their current kit. Mauga, Orisa, and Hog both need reworks to make them less binary. That’s a lot of work the devs have on their plates, but it does seem like they’re slowly chipping away at it.
