pretty high i would said aaron said himself that they only want to focus on developing the live service side of the game ( PVP ) so it’s not ideal they have to divert their team just to finish the PVE story mission that they promised
hell even i bet microsoft agree with that decision cuz they did the same with halo infinite dumping the whole PVE side ( campaign and seasonal story ) so they can focus on the PVP side
Don’t know how many times I’ve had to say this across the internet. Breathes in
THEY CANCELLED HERO MISSIONS WHICH ARE NOT RELATED TO THE LORE. STORY MISSIONS ARE COMING STARTING FROM AUGUST 10TH AND THEY’LL USE A LARGE PERIOD UNTIL 2024 TO TAKE FEEDBACK AND MAKE THE NEXT ONES MUCH BETTER BASED ON ALL THE FEEDBACK
We will have to see. It all depends on the financial reports. If it continues to be disapointing, then yes, the PVE missions will be the first thing to be axed from the future plans.
Then why make a topic and not just ask the question again as a reply. If you make a topic like this you’re asking everyone. If you just reply to one person with the question you’re asking them mainly.
It clear the Aaron’s team has a certain disdain for the pve idea, because it isnt his baby, it was Kaplan’s. Now that Jeff is gone he has inherited his thing that he doesnt like and just wants to get rid of it.
If the invasion pve missions arent a hit, Aaron will be the first to present it to the board as a means to say “See? PVE wont be profitable! Lets not develop anything like this anymore! Waste of dev money!” And he will be relieved to be free of this burden.
And it alwyas felt like a burden. Even before the cancelation you could feel how the devs always avoided talking about it. The team who was enthusiastic about it already left blizzard.
They’ve said that they are waiting how Invasion will be judged by the community before making the next ones next year. If it will deliver then we get new ones next year.
It doesn’t matter how many times you say it or whether you put it in all caps - it may or may not be correct. So why bang on as if you know? Odd you think shouting it and saying “don’t know how many times” make it any more correct?
Anyway, I feel they are waiting to see what happens before deciding whether to continue. I don’t think it’s definite more will come. They admitted they don’t have the next ones ready to go, seemingly even the ideas completed, and that they want input on deciding what to do.
This seems like hedging their bets a bit. Don’t spend money on it until they see how the first ones go and if they are a flop then PvE is dead. If they make enough money, which seems likely considering most people will likely give them a try, and the feedback is not all negative (less likely), then they will allocate the resources for the next set of 3 missions.
The problem they have is that without big releases like PvE missions there isn’t much going for OW2. The seasonal events have been pretty awful and not even worth playing in some cases. The patches have been poor. A majority of people hate the shop because of the ridiculous pricing (and I see a rebellion already starting against these price gouging offerings from gaming companies) and there just isn’t much else.
I say highly unlikely tbh. The way Aaron talked about it, he really did care about the PvE side of the game so I think we will still get the campaign at the very least.
While the Blizzard execs did nuke the Hero Missions and skill trees (the parts people actually cared about), I think that getting rid of the campaign wouldn’t benefit them considering all the work put into it.
In a perfect world Blizzard would create an entirely separate team to work on PvE so we wouldn’t have had this PvE vs PvP attention dilemma, but I think that ship has sailed.
I like how you make a ‘questionanswer’ thread, not addressed to anyone, and then cry when someone replies to it not according to your expectations, saying the thread wasnt adressed to them in the first place. Really no reason to try having normal discussion with your premade bias, other than ridiculing it.
