I don’t react a lot to Mercy threads in general but when I do and RevertMercy also shared their opinion, you’re always lurking around starting your sentences with “I can say without blushing…”.
I mean, it’s your right to react and quote people but I’m personally starting to find it quite creepy, especially when it’s done to shut a poster’s opinion down like constantly.
I don’t think it’s fair to do such a thing to someone but again, it’s your choice. Not sure if it’s ok with the CoC in the long run though.
This would probably be the only reason i wouldn’t mind seeing the buff tried, but and even then I have serious doubts. A lot of her problem wasn’t that anything about her was unbalanced, even “res can’t be balanced” came out balanced in the end with strengths, weakness’ and risks to it.
To me it always seemed like the fact she had it all just made using other main healers pointless. best healing average per game, insane mobility, insane utility, passive regen so she’s not stealing her off healers resources. Then an ult that makes all of it even better. Arguably all balanced in their own right, but all on one character made them too good to pass up. Something had to give and healing was probably the one that hurts her character the least and would help bring up other heros’s. She still outheals ana’s average per game to date, and was outhealing moira on average prior.
The clarification stands in full force then…there is no quoting every sentence, there is no participating in every thread, and there is no stalking
First, regarding the term “always”: again, as I clarified earlier, I do not participate in every thread that the forum member you have referred to here participates in
If you choose to revise that to “frequently”, then my response is that the forum member in question and I are both interested in Mercy-related topics, and ergo we will generally see each others posts in such threads, same as two seafood restaurant owners frequently encountering each other at the fish market. This is normal and expected in the context of these forums. And…replying is a freedom every forum member has with every unlocked post on these forums. Replying is also a normal and accepted action here on the forums…it is the essence of why the forums exist
Second, in the same sense that a given poster can freely and choose to post an legal/permitted emoticon (ie certain ones are prohibited) representing some action, another poster can freely choose to use language describing said action in their posts. It is the same freedom of expression done via two different means
I do not find quoting another post to be creepy in any sense of the word.
I find it to provide direct and easy reference for the response one makes for the reader of said response, rather than having to scroll up and find the statement in question earlier in the thread. Practical, not creepy
Here are some actions/activities I find to be creepy:
–Not moving on over character changes (in a game where the only constant is change) after nearly 2 years
–Leading, cheerleading, and participating in a forum raid
–Leading a toxic/entitled “movement”
–Continually pretending that other movements opposing said toxic/entitled movements exists
–Starting and then continuously promoting a boycott against Overwatch while actively playing Overwatch, participating in its forums, and/or making money off MeTube videos built around Overwatch content
It is not actually possible for one forum member to shut down the opinion of another forum member on these forums, unless said forum member is a forum admin.
I am not shutting anyone down as it is impossible for me to do so; and even if it were possible, it is and has never been my intent to do so
The brutal truth there is that, it wasn’t. Playing with Mass Rez back in 1.0 and in comp, it was not only difficult to pull off successfully, but it was also pretty risky, and is proof as to why Mercy during that time was considered niche, and F/D-tier at best. What some may not admit is that it was removed mostly due to the more subjective “unfun to play against argument” that was all too popular during that time from big streamers and pro players, and the “hide and res” myth, which relied on the false equivalency of a Mercy player to take cover, when in reality, every player of every hero has to “take cover” in order to most efficiently use their ults. I talked about this in detail in my Mass Rez Mercy | Interview, Dichotomy & The False Narrative thread, and this can further be proven to be the case even now, where people have been discovering in the workshop that Mass Rez / hide and res was not only a non-issue, but it was also quite weak and situational - needing invincibility buffs just to make her viable, and also balanceable.
I myself, as well as many others, have even made versions of the ability and can attest to how it’s completely possible to include in the game and have it be balanced with the right tweaks. In short, the whole “Mass Rez was broken / OP / can’t be balanced” is simply a fallacy that can be put to rest. It was simply a scapegoat used to cover for the fact that the real issue lied with the SR bug/exploit that ran rampant at the time. A bug that existed with other heroes besides Mercy herself in fact.
Agreed. I think a lot of it has to do with the constant 1 on 1 talks with the “sample group” of twitch streamers / pro players. Essentially taking an opinion from a small group of people who doesn’t represent the entirety of the community and balancing the game based on that, is never a good way to balance a game in my opinion. Especially in a competitive shooter.
What is undeniable is that despite these “healthier for the game” fixes, suggestions, and implementations, people are leaving in droves (including pro players and big streamers), longer queue times, and the lack of interest in what is still considered to be quite a young game of only 3 years. I’ve been saying this since the beginning. Elitism and appealing to the pros over the rest of the community is what’s destroying it, and unless they decide to change course and appeal to everyone - not just the 1%, I’m not sure if glimmers of hope with things like the workshop would be enough. But then again, considering that there’s rumors going around that they’ll be ditching this game to make the sequel, perhaps they too realize that it’s too late to try and fix with all the issues present, and that they’ll be better off starting on a new slate, and if that’s true I can’t say I’d blame them.
Overall I’d be very curious to see what happens with the state of this game in the next 1-2 years.
Rest-assured. I’ve been beyond creeped out with this constant stalking. It’s been going on for almost a year now by the way, and I’m pretty certain that it would go under “Harassment of a forum member”. I’d too question if this violates the CoC. I should definitely look into it.

a Lover of True, Fair, and Fun Balance. xavvypls
I can say without blushing that I dont believe that a few individual experiences in a custom environment with custom user settings proves anything about how such settings would work in the real game at this time, nor does such experiences apply to evaluating what occurred in the past with actual mass rez in the actual game as it was at that time
The return of mass rez in any form would imo most likely bring about the return of the unwanted/undesirable behavior that the devs observed which in turn resulted (thankfully) in the removal of mass rez from the game. I dont see how the experiences of a few folks in Workshop disproves that such behavior would not re-occur
Clarification: there has been no stalking.
I have replied to posts, to statements, in a calm and rational manner; and such activity is the lifeblood of a public user forum.
If one is uncomfortable receiving replies on a public user forum, where every post one makes is in essence an implicit invitation to any and all readers to reply to it; the best way i know of to avoid receiving replies is to not post - tho of course, it is every forum members right to post.
