I’ve bluescreen twice now in comp, and a few other dumb crashes whilst in comp games and it’s gotten me suspended twice so far, once only just now. I’ve now disabled broadcast like others have recommended I hope I don’t keep crashing like that cause a permanent suspension for all this would be awful those black marks on my account aren’t cool man.
- I don’t work for Blizzard.
- AAA titles don’t tailor their game so it can work with a third-party app. Like the driver, it’s the other way around.
Until anyone actually knows the real technical reason behind the problem occuring, it would be wiser not to assume things here.
Being that if a games Anti-Cheat
or similar service/app is
triggering a false positive on known and popular software by other well known names then the cause of the issue is up for debat.
This starts to draw the line between advising that our anti-cheat is not compatible with bla
or further/larger environment testing to remove the false positives and improve compatibility with other known running services
I’ve been having crashes with NVIDIA Broadcast on and running as well, but as soon as I closed the app while playing OW2 I never got a crash since. But does anyone know if the NVIDIA Broadcast SDK Distributable file would cause a BSOD? I have it installed in my OBS and need it to cancel out the background noise when I stream. Haven’t tried it yet, but just checking to see if anyone has experienced crashes with that and not having Broadcast itself running.
Damn but I need Nvidia Broadcast… this is not a solution.
Also affected, BSOD with error code “DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION”, resolved by disabling Nvidia Broadcast.
Had no issues in OW1 with the same setup.
yea same issue. but I’m not disabling Nvidia Broadcast. Blizzard/Nvidia should resolve this out sooner rather than later hopefully. such a dumb issue in 2022
BSOD wouldnt be triggered by an anticheat detection. The anticheat would just disconnect you.
A bsod can be triggered by many things including anticheat if the process blocks or issues an invalid instruction.
uninstalling Nvidia Broadcast helped for me aswell, helped the DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSOD error from happening in Fifa and OW2, hasn’t happened for any other game either, so if they both use easy anticheat then that might be the problem.
Unfortunately I don’t have nVidia broadcast as far as I know, so can’t disable that. I’m getting crashes every few matches. Sometimes BSOD, sometimes just CTD.
I have noticed if you close and re-open Overwatch every 2 matches it wont blue screen with NVIDIA Broadcast enabled. So it appears to be time related in some way I would gather.
Blue screened last night while streaming with this exact issue. It had been happening earlier when playing ow2 and I thought I had fixed it by doing a clean driver reinstall with the usual windows commands to scan for issues.
I use Nvidia broadcast both in OBS and for my mic in game. I hope they can get this figured out. I got a leaver status on a comp game last night because of it and now I’m not sure I want to chance playing more comp until this is fixed.
I don’t want to be a mood breaker here but I got, as others, DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION caused by amdppm.sys on AMD build (ryzen 9 5900x and rx 570 oc 8gb).
So guess is not nvidia faults.
Haven’t had a crash in a few days now, I unplugged my mouse cam (Logitech C922/20) and only ran one camera in OBS. I also switched to an Nvidia studio driver (because they are supposed to be more stable). I believe the mouse cam was the main cause of my system freezes. Check your devices and drivers everyone. I will update if I get another crash.
Had 2 crashed in 24 hours with Nvidia Broadcast installed. Anyone got a fix besides uninstall?
Hey, Blizzard are you listening??? or do you guys know the game is gonna die?? so, don’t even care I guess.
the game somehow block one of the function of PC, making BSOD because of that. sometimes it blocks the camera, sometimes the mic. It can block even the WINDOWS SEARCHER
Turning off the program before playing the game honestly.
This is seriously not a solution. There needs to be a response to the community here. This thread, among others, has 100 posts now and this is not a small issue. This also absolutely is Blizzard’s responsibility, as this does not happen with any other games when using Nvidia Broadcast. Streamers need that program a lot of the times and this is going to kill streaming Overwatch for a lot of people. I don’t buy that this issue has even been brought up in any of the bug queues at Blizzard since we as a community have 0 say in how any of that goes down, and the “volunteer” on this thread and others has been nothing but snarky to everyone that knows more than them, so I doubt any power they have has been used to get someone on this issue.
Btw, the issue here is that the Windows module called the DPC Watchdog is detecting something from OW2 that causes Nvidia Broadcast to hang. I double checked this pouring through log dumps from multiple BSODs across 2 systems, so it isn’t an issue on Nvidia’s end.
FIX IT BLIZZARD
