And they have applied for a job that requires you to be on spot because?

if they have explicitly been hired to work only from home, then it is wrong but i doubt that was the case.

The general state of OW2? And personal experience, lol. I live alone, and still cant work from home properly. Had to get a laptop specifically for the job tasks, and get out to work in cafes if I want to get something done.

this is why they wanted the pandemic to go on forver

they were living the life

yes, sitting home all day makes you weird

which i think is what is happening to ow2 devs

they are never leaving the house, consuming msnbc, and going wacko

I am certain that whatever contract they signed said that blizzard could require them to show up to work whenever their policy changed

Yeah it’s sucks for them, but sometimes you have to move for your job.

Besides, for those who live too far they have until July 10th until the policy comes into effect

That’s 5 months to move and get settled

Low morale like that shows up in the end product. Its a shame their upper management is so self-destructive.

It really does.

I can work 2-3 days from home.

I got sick last year and was working for 3 weeks from home.

It can be very damaging when you are not taking care of yourself properly.

They make videogames, the majority of what they do does not have to happen in house. Asking someone to move somewhere that is more than likely twice as costly as where they currently live, just to do something that can be done from home is ludicrous.

We know they can do it from home because they have been doing it. They say as much on twitter.

I kinda agree that spending all day at home can make people a tad crazy. Some of my retired relatives spend all day at home watching Fox and whenever you talk to them they go into some crazy delusional rant and its usually like “no that makes no sense. You used to be smarter than this. Why are you not smarter than this anymore?”

However, it would be ideal if said social activity were not a work commute.

well, if someone could invent teleportation, then there would be no commute

until then, drive to work like the rest of the working world

Given how buggy, unfinished and generally disappointing OW2 currently is…Blizzard wanting them back in the office surely cant be surprising.

Actually for most of the jobs being discussed here it was found that the commute was a complete waste and being in the office did nothing to boost productivity. So effectively you cut out a 1 hour commute each way and productivity does not drop.

It would be the equivalent of me saying that before you clock in you must run a mile off the clock to get the blood flowing. You would think such a thing is completely insane because it would not help you do your job better at all but that is what you are saying we should do with the commute.

Because of this I would expect to see a dropoff in talent at Blizzard similar to what some other companies trying a similar policy have noticed. People who are good at their job, specifically those who are known to be, can get a job anywhere so they are going to choose a spot with good benefits. Meanwhile those who cannot, or those who are not as good, are going to go along with the new policy. To that end you now have an inferior workforce that is actually less productive than the one you had before.

At its core that is the big problem. You are going to lose your best who will go where they can WFH which means you actually lose overall quality because a good developer is drastically better than an average one (you can ask any dev on here it is not close).

honestly, forcing everyone to do 1 hour of cardio before work wouldn’t be a bad idea

it’s very good for the brain and body

man you know its a weird day when the forums are supporting the horrible leadership over the developers

Devs are not supporting us either.

Good talk clown.

Cry more tears for the devs, maybe next time they fix some issues instead of telling people to shut up.
