Another forced loss

If you think forced losses are a thing, you won’t be convinced otherwise. Despite it being complete nonsense.

My question is, why play a game if you think it’s forcing results… just uninstall and play something else.

You’re just wasting your own time.

For me personally, it’s not about this game, I don’t want to see this kind of intransparent matchmaking in any other game.
Imagine they release another great game and use this kind of matchmaker. That would be terrible.

I’ve heard that Call of Duty uses similar matchmaking and it wouldn’t surprise me.
They should appreciate the fact that people are complaining about it.
Another option would be for players to simply stop playing the game without saying anything.

They should seriously consider that they have worked for several years on something that does not work as desired in the real world.

What makes you think they haven’t?

Firstly it’s not that “intransparent”. It’s been explained repeatedly, but people choose to ignore that. Which is their prerogative.

I think it’s become the new hot scapegoat.

I think you are right.

It’s not new at all. Blizzards communication with the community is intransparent at best.
Other people might say that they are sometimes a bit dishonest with their community.

I’ve read all of the blogposts, even the ones that don’t show up in the new forums.
I’ve also listened to J.K. and developers on streams.
As soon as somebody asks something interesting about the matchmaker, they would say “Oh, we can’t talk about that in detail, because that would affect integrity of the matchmaker, people would be able to abuse certain aspects about it”.

Now my question, in what edge cases would it be possible to abuse certain aspects of the matchmaker, if the whole thing is not designed wrong in the first place.
Systems that only work because parts of them need to be obscured are bad systems that are probably already being exploited.

That tends to be how IP protection works, you don’t give out every ounce of data to the public.

But there is enough there to have a base understanding that while not perfect (no mm is) it isn’t the cause of people’s issues. It’s just people have seen complaints that haven’t been totally shut down, this has enabled them, and now they believe… but if you tell some something enough times, they’ll end up believing it to be true.

So you have limited knowledge at best.

Yes, they do that professionally and I think that’s called marketing.
Their motivation is to make money.

Those who complain about this do so selflessly, they do not benefit in any way. They just want to play balanced games and still believe in Blizzard’s ability to change this.

This is the lie everyone tells themselves when they complain.

Usually right after they get smashed in a game. They claim they want to fix it for everyone… when in reality they’re just annoyed they got embarrassed by another player.

That’s your opinion. I looked into that subject because I think it’s interesting.
Be honest to yourself, you don’t know nothing about this system, except what they told you about it. There’s no guarantee it really works that way.
A lot of people complain because it looks like they lied to us several times about the matchmaker.
It is a legitimate concern of the community to doubt the accuracy of the statements about the matchmaker, especially if the game is described as “competitive” or is part of “E-Sports”.
If it were up to me, every e-sports shooter game should be subject to independent review. :person_shrugging:

This would suggest you think they are lying about it.

This confirms my assumption above.

The reality is, they’d gain nothing from lying. They’d also gain nothing by saying what they’ve said.

People just love a conspiracy theory and a scapegoat. They need something to latch on to to explain what they don’t understand.

Not sure the relevance of esports here…

It’s the important part. Everything that is connected to sports should be fair and have public rules. No secret, “IP protected” algorithms.

It doesn’t really matter if I think they are lying. It’s a fact that they are not open about it.

A couple of years ago, a bunch of players climbed pretty high, just because they played the least played heroes for their rank. As a result, it was easier for them to player better than the average player at that rank. Classic matchmaking exploit.
It gives you an insight into how things really work.

Can you list some reasons why they would gain nothing from lying?
It seems rigging the gameplay experience for engagement would be extremely lucrative in monetization terms. Which is the only reason for this scam house.

You’re better off trying to reason with a brick wall. The individual you’re trying to converse with doesn’t use its head for anything other than keeping its two ears apart.

It’s important to talk about it openly.
Maybe they will say something that makes sense to me.

It’s hard to prove anything for or against, and that’s basically my point.
It is unfortunate that the person in charge cannot speak openly on more detailed questions.

Every point you’ve made has merit. They’ve obviously something to hide, else, as this user mentioned, they would’ve disclosed so. It only helps them.

Oh yeah, btw Synkz, I watched the replay. That was some really good Lifeweaver play, wish I had some of that in my low ranked games.

What the hell were those bombs? ROFLLMAO!!!   I have legitimately seen actual bronze Dva’s use that character so much better. I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s hard to fathom this was a GM game. I mean I’ve heard from other GM’s that these type of players frequent their lobbies, quite often. But to see an entire game of it. Did your damage players even nail any crits? o_O

That’s just unbelievable, Blizzard isn’t even trying to make an attempt to hide the disgusting matchmaking LMAO

Fip a coin 200 times, tell us the results and how many streaks are within the results please

Maybe people didn’t answer your question because it’s just flaming people and the answer to it is so obvious it feels like a waste of time. Of course, everyone knows a win streak will end, that’s not weird at all, it’s HOW it ends that is obviously broken. You suddenly go on a loss streak where the teams are blatantly unfair. Why? Because blizzard is trying to make a fair match and since you’ve been doing well the algorithm VASTLY overestimates your ability to play leading to a loss streak.

It’s not a forced loss its YOUR faul for losing. It ALWAYS is. If you improve you will rank up, if not you will lose and derank.
Just take the L, complaining will not change it.
