For real. If these types of 5v5’ers didn’t complain about every time Samito posts a new video, I bet the entire discussion about 6v6 would lessen by 2 thirds lol.

ironic you would think with that fear they would understand why og players want 6v6 back. since 6v6 was just deleted and replaced with an inferior format and an overall inferior game

Yep. Played since 2016, never left OW1 for more than a week at most (except vacations and CP too haha). While I haven’t quit OW2, my general playtime has gone down probably 10 fold, and it’s been consistently low ever since the closed Beta. I also stopped playing comp entirely, even though it was my main gamemode for 6 whole years, played in a team and all back in OW1. Now I can’t get myself to queue ranked at all, the game just feels so hollow so the only fleeting pleasure is some surface level quickplay gratification with friends who also play. But man. Used to spend so many hours in 6v6, and 5v5 singlehandedly killed my true passion for this game.

Obviously, we’ve been discriminated for this and spat on by them telling us to stop being nostalgic, even mocking us in their official esports broadcast program that no one even watches anymore. And I was a big OWL neutral viewer until 2023, always excited about news, new transfers etc.
It’s valid to say that over the years, the game and the community has been toxic through and trough, it’s not a coincidence that the upper management is toxic too, including all the paid actors, even potentially the devs themselves.
this will go down in the history of gaming as a very dark chapter.

We had conversations months before that gave me an idea. I wouldn’t be surprised.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they were a psyop and this was an elaborate means to show the community that 5v5 is actually dog water and start considering how many players have stopped playing this game due to the change. I’ve seen weirder in these threads.

I want to mention light to this comment as much as possible. I’ve mentioned it once, I will mention it again for historical relevancy.
Back during Double Shields, everyone argued about this entirely and had all sorts of arguments under the sun from if having shields at ALL in the game were healthy and, for a moment, if removing one tank was a good idea.
There were threads at the idea of 5v5 saying that they didn’t care, but the threads in Double Shield made it abundantly clear, Two Tanks and Shields are extremely important for creating space and utilizing the size of the map while creating a sensibly defensive/oppressive formation which Main Tank and Off Tank was great for doing.
And, back then, it seemed a majority agreed that taking either shields away or a second tank would make this harder, increase TTK, have majority of aggressive fire on the one tank, make the map feel too big, and hyper change meta greatly for heroes that didn’t even need it.
Ironically, the years of Overwatch 2 has been filled with all of that as mentioned issues.

I am still around, but only because I have so much invested in the game, and probably also because I have some kind of an addiction to my main, Tracer, whose like can not be played in any other game.
But I can assure you, that this will be my last Activision-Blizzard game, and for as long as I have a say, my two children will not play any of their games as well.
I would be surprised if people, after how this company has treated them, would be coming back for more.
There are so many other good games coming out, not the least indie games. Soon a number of direct OW competitors will be here, and even if they don’t do what I like as good, I will be willing to settle for less (like Star Lord) to get out of this nightmare.
