2 years and one new hero?

So after all of the waiting, we’re only going to have one hero in the closed beta… and it’s a DPS hero after having echo as our last hero.

Am I missing something?

Welcome to reality.

It was never said that the game will launch with new heroes. The most recent statement about it consisted of “maybe” and “few”

We are supposed to receive new heroes in the open beta later in the year

They’re focusing on bringing you the most skins this year. One hero is the best they could do.

There will be more in the future. This is only the first wave.

I know that there will be more heroes, but it feels bad that they supposedly have all of these heroes in the pipeline, but we have yet to see any of them.

The last role we need a new hero in is the DPS role. We have 17 DPS heroes with soujorun becoming 18. Compare that to our current selection of 7 support heroes.

I am curious to see how quickly they add new heroes to the beta; and how many heroes we have at the “launch”

if the game is a year away still (distinct possibility), youd be ok with them showing you 4…5…more(?) heroes that you cant use til a year later?

Only one hero for the first Alpha makes sense, especially when they’re also shipping big reworks out. From an interest standpoint, it’s better to save goodies for latter, especially when initial reactions may be poor.

Does bother me that they still haven’t at least shown any other heroes. Just a crumb of hype would do a lot to improve Support and Tank player mindsets.

They haven’t released a new hero in 2 years. Honestly at this point, anything less than 6 new heroes at launch will be a major disappointment. We were getting 3 new heroes a year before they stopped releasing new content for OW2.

Back when Jeff was around, he confirmed in an interview that OW2 would have at least the same number of new heroes when OW1 alpha released. So, at least 6 new heroes. And honestly, if that was their internal minimum goal they wanted to meet, I don’t see them have any more than 6 new heroes ready for launch.

I’m fairly sure they mentioned that they may include more new heroes as the betas continue.

Also they won’t show much yet as it’s still too early… :wink:

Blizzard is just preparing the playerbase for the new iteration of 5v5; 0-5-0.
