What else could Blizzard be possibly doing?

They’re making a literal new game, new environment-maps, AI for PvE, ballancing 5v5 mode, play testing, skins, bugs, UI, hero reworks, hero design,etc

Ye sure buddy, the only job they have in their entire game and company is to make new hero…

OW1 launched with 21 heroes, skins and maps.
The only thing it didn’t have is pve and it doesn’t look like OW2’s pve is coming anytime soon.
So where did all the work go?

The heroes are probably done and currently undergoing strong QA testing, bug fixing and polished for the future beta phases alongside more new content. The original OW beta had limited numbers of playable heroes before new ones got added in future betas in the past.
I am comparing it to the past game.
The content that the beta has doesn’t even make it up for the content that the regular game would have get for the last 2 years if we have kept getting regular updates. We would have got 5-6 new heroes by then on top of everything else.

This is the reason why Aaron mentioned that with each beta major content is getting added. We will have multiple beta tests…
Hero releases were a big event for the devs in the past - it was a chance to spend a few weeks focusing solely on one hero, they never released multiple heroes at once as they didn’t want any new additions being overlooked by the community.
Cramming in a load of new heroes during a beta phase, that also gives us a drastically different version of OW than what we are used to, would starve these new heroes of the attention they may need.
We’ve seen Sojourn before, we know about her already, that won’t be the case for other hero releases though. These new characters deserve their own time in the sun.
Yes especially considering they don’t have to build the game from scratch again.
We will have to wait and see but so far it has been all the content shown from 2 years ago without anything unseen so I don’t have high expectations for anything beyond that.

It’s a new version of the same engine.
And versions of same thing don’t go 1:1
ow2 looks like a graphics downgrade tbh. i saw a post with side by side comparisons and ow2 looked worse.
It is an engine upgrade which is not as complicated to make than a completely new engine.
I am not saying they have to but just that there is less of work.

Why? How are you going to make a better game if can’t even top up what has been already done in the past? Blizzard used to make some of the best games in the past.
