Alright. I’m new to the forums. If I break any rules, I blame lag. I don’t know, I don’t play ranked shrug. Or anything outside of ARAM, really.
This was made because I want to increase Yrel popularity within ARAM. Why? Because she’s fun and it hurts me a little to see my favorite hero get skipped over for other heroes. At least if someone choses here I can live vicariously through them, guide them into bonking things hard.
Argument One: Yrel is Best Healer (Except for Healers, but They Cheat)
- So, you know those no healing games? Yrel has healing capabilities for both herself and others. Gift at 4 and Divine Fervor, iirc, at 16 so you can spam D, thus allowing you to spam abilities and ignore silly things like mana
Argument Two: Yrel is Best Bruiser (No, there is no joke here, just facts)
- Yrel has a, quite frankly, ridiculous amount of sustain. Spam D, spam Q, bam, tons of healing. And a bruiser is all about being a massive pest. Yrel has all the tools of a tank- the biggest pests- while having the damage potential of a bruiser. Yeah, she’s not as good as a dedicated tank- she is a bruiser, after all- but she does a fairly good job of it. She has a high health pool, the tools to fill it, and plenty of ways to escape from danger. A good bruiser- except, unlike the rest, she doesn’t run out of resources if you play her right. Dehaka needs essence, Varian che- either doesn’t have as much sustain or as much damage, Chen dies (he’s a great dmg sponge but has crappy dmg), DW better be flying as much as he can or he explodes, Hogger needs rage or he explodes, which requires getting bonked or bonking, and if there are any others remind me so I can make fun of them.
Argument Three: Yrel is Cool
- The most important aspect. Have you looked at Yrel’s emotes? The mecha ones especially look awesome. Mecha Yrel is awesome, Yrel’s character design is great- who doesn’t like bashing things? Yrel is fun to play. It’s fun to barely get out alive and yeet enemies all over the place.
Anyways, that’s it, computer’s almost dead and I’m a lazy bum. Remember, Azmodan is a cheating coward and thus cannot be used as a counter-argument. Because he cheats. Duh.

I appreciate every constructive post on the forum! You might also want to add to this thread about ARAM’s worst and best heroes: ARAM BEST and WORST heroes

Ah, thank you. I will go look at that when I am feeling less lazy and in a reading mood. Darn it, now I have entertainment and will now feel conflicted rambling. Sorry for the reply, if that annoys you.

Even though I’m pretty sloppy with her because without trait her moves are clucky. In the hands of someone more skilled she is annoying as heck! I do prefer ppl that don’t know what they are doing on her to not pick her because they tend to boop our targets out of our skill shots and then die while not doing the cool annoying thing that I know she’s good at.

I like the goat lady and her insane self healing but I don’t think I’ve ever found the team healing talent worth picking, the numbers just aren’t there, and the D cooldown reduction somehow messes up my rotations (I’d rather she had 2 charges).
And her staying power works two ways, unfortunately. Being persistent as a skidmark means stacking heroes like ZJ usually finish their quest fast.

Yeah, may not be for everyone, my playstyle. Which is spamming everything you can all the time. A big benefit with the trait talents is out combat healing, which in ARAM can be rather nice. You spam enough abilities and you can press D again, healing another hero. It’s small burst, but if you do it right… I always, as a non healer/support with a healing talent, aim for 1/5th of the main healer’s heals. 40k healing as a bruiser, along with a crap ton of self-healing is nice. But hey! Other builds may work better for people who don’t have an obsession with spamming as many abilities as possible.
Also mana doesn’t matter if you’re casting trait as much as possible. CD reduction talent inherently reduces the CD of trait to 5 seconds with how it works. The way I play is based around spamming abilities and sustaining through lvl 1 basic attack healing talent + D+Q spam. If you go a different path, that is simply another aspect of the best hero. Duh.

ok but then expalin how should i play her in aram… i skip her because i dont understand her…but i guess she is as usefulll as hogger
Gotta love when you’re doing ARAM and the enemy has (2) Azmo’s! Just imagine two of them bombarding your guys the whole match. Especially if they are decent Azmo players. No chance.
I’m a Yrel player too and I’m curious how well you manage your mana pre 16. Do you have a replay?
I think your right on the money with your yrel assessment.
Her being able to heal and support in particular with out classifying as a healer is a very strong advantage thats unique to her.
I think shes also a great anti meta. Poke and hard engage is whats good in aram and yrel’s got amazing tools against both of those things.

How dare you! Okay then, just got up from 19 hours of sleep. Yay. Anyways, with Yrel in ARAM you have got to stay a good ways back. By good ways I mean within jumping range of cannons. From there? Always try to use trait and Q, the insta heals are nice. Pair it with the lvl 1 healing on hit and all of your abilities can sustain you, which is why I prefer it over the Q talent. E ability always deals more baseline damage and it slows, so if you’re close to an enemy and aren’t too close to the cannons, cast it without charging it any. Other than that? I dunno, I’m not good at describing how I play beyond “taking way too many risks”. Just make sure you have a way to live through risk taking, it’s why I prefer Yrel to a lot of assassins and bruisers. She can take hits and escape good.

I’ve actually been trying trait build in QM and found quite a bit of success to be honest but whether it can be attributed to the build or just sticking to team mates more often and trying to keep them alive remains to be debated. Still, getting about 10-20k healing on top of Yrel’s ridiculous self healing. It’s not bad…
The build I used was [T3211324,Yrel]
I think Q talent at lvl 1 is better choice as it synergizes better with Velen’s Chosen and I think some of Maraad’s AAs get wasted anyway.
Anyways, had fun.

Q1 is better, yes. It’s an anti-gank tech and the range increase feels nice against some ranged heroes or just to keep distance.
I’d suggest you to try Sacred Ground to get D resets 3 times more often than Arden Defender.
Then, try Holy Avenger when you’ll feel comfortable with so much CDR from Divine Favor. It’s a huge dmg boost since it’ll be up a lot.
Step 1: E full charge, D+E, R+D+E
Step 2: Q half charge, D+E, W half charge, D+E, repeat step 2.
Don’t forget to AA in between spells.

I am looking for one right now, will edit this when I find one. Be warned, it mostly has to do with grabbing globes, glugging fountains, and dying once at some point.
Anyways, for everyone: my advice isn’t really applicable outside of ARAM. I’m player level 400 with a single game of QM played, and 0 Ranked. So yeahhhh, I’ve played the vast majority of games since, like, player level 80 in only ARAM. So if my advice kills you a ton outside of that singular format, make sure to blame lag. Thanks for reading this-
And sorry for appending this to the reply to you Azazel.

Duly noted, and to each their own. And I think everyone is aware this was intended for ARAM so no one else to blame but ourselves if it doesn’t work.
Yrel is super versatile and people can play her very differently. Personally I’ve yet to warm to her stomp build as I have to sacrifice too many of other cool talents to get that particular chain going. Others might find it to their liking and that’s alright too.
I played her once or twice back in the old Arena days and both times I was a bee in the enemy teams bonnet. That was also back when Maraad’s Insight procced on everything and synergized with Holy Wrath at level 16 which boosted the healing.
