He’s just a real bad dude with some of the coolest lore in SC and one of the most emotional stories in the wings of liberty campaign. Plus the dude is super loyal, unlike Nova who still screws you over either way. If you save his friends as Raynor the dude will offer to save him from his imprisonment in Heart of the Swarm.
He has a really cool aesthetic, being immensely powerful with Psionic energy thanks to his terrazine addiction. He’d be a stealth hero without all the things that make stealth heroes so annoying if his hero unit abilities are anything to go by. He’s basically a ranged assassin mage hybrid that siphons the life of his allies to grow stronger and gain his energy back.
Also there’s this image. if anyone who has the ability to do so can post it correctly for all to see I’d be happy. But this image is all you need to see to know why he’s the best pick for next SC hero.
The sad reason I think why they mostly go for OW, WoW and Nexus Originals is that people just don’t remember Starcraft anymore. Most of the diehard fans are already 25-30+ years old.
Blizzard doesn’t see making these heroes and creating skins for them financially lucrative.
But it would be nice to get more SC heroes for sure.
Nexus originals aren’t anything people want though. Qhira trailer is one of the most heavily disliked videos I’ve ever seen.
Honestly Starcraft is still doing fine. Coop is what’s keeping it alive and is generating quite a bit of money for blizzard. I’d say it’s doing better than heroes at least.
Even if I get shot for saying this, I think she only exists as a result of a forced diversity drive at Blizzard due to the west coast culture they live in.
I have nothing against the hero and nothing against black female heroes, I just think she is bland and she has no real back story, she is not a part of any Blizzard universe and she is not a known character from any Blizzard game.
Of course it was forced diversity. This day and age that’s all people care about. Wokeness, diversity, politics. As if shoving it down our faces will make us more likely to accept it. Going by how people have been pushing back… and the like to dislike bar for Qhira… it’s not working.
Go woke go broke it’s tried and true. Someday they’ll get it.
I kept waiting for tosh since forever , I even proposed a kit for him that picks a thing of everything he has like Mind blast , his rifle, psionic shield, using terrazine , consume , voodoo and his lovely knife
People can bear with Nexus originals, what happened with Qhira was kind of a perfect storm of bad things happening.
#1. Qhira was completely random as a release, yet had a lot of buzz. This meant people were expecting one thing… but got another. #2. Hero releases slowed down significantly to 4 a year. People are more irritable when they know the next hero won’t come out for 3 months. #3. The playerbase had already been annoyed by a seeming change of priorities at Blizzard-Activision. #4. Qhira was quite powerful during her release, so that only caused more angst against her hero.
I think Tosh should have been in the Nexus ages ago. I found him to be one of the most, if not the most, interesting characters in the SC2 universe, and there’s lots of things that could be done with his kit.
I’m not giving up hope, but I’m not really optimistic about him appearing the Nexus soon. The reason being that he’s been passed over as a SC2 commander for several other people like Mengsk, Vorazun, and Karax. My theory is that they will make it into the Nexus before Tosh does. I think they would all make interesting heroes, still would prefer Tosh though.
Been a while since we’ve had a Starcraft Assassin though. Tosh should have been in from the start with Nova. he deserves his place now.
In what way is he like Qhira? Where is the mobility? (None in his kit.) He doesn’t have a bleed either. What a dumb thing to say.
Wait… is it just because he’s black with dreadlocks that you deduced that? Wow.
The dude has a gun with magelike abilities and eats his allies health for energy and buffs.
I want mengsk very badly too. Him and Tosh are the SC heroes I want the most. But with Mengsk I’m worried. he needs to play like an RTS commander since he is an emperor. If it doesn’t involve him controlling minions from space then it’s not a good depiction.
I don’t know about powercreep Nova but Tosh’s kit was nothing like Nova’s aside from invisibility. He was all about consuming his allies and gaining power to then unleash his powerful Psionic abilities. Nova is a very by the books Sniper character. Tosh is a Specter Nova is a ghost. Very different roles.
I said no more assassins regarding Overwatch. Since all we’ve had for overwatch is assassins. But given that we just had a tank for starcraft with blaze I’m fine with another sc assassin and honestly Tosh should have been there from the beginning as he’s one of the most popular SC characters to boot.
Nova is based around using trickery and her advanced weaponry and range to her advantage. Where as Tosh is a psionic user enhanced with terrazine who is also part of the Specter program. Tosh also often uses a lot of guerrilla warfare tactics.
Did you just say Swann had more depth than freaking Tosh? Did you even play his storyline? Talk to him during breaks. Dude tosh is such a deep character. Like he was top notch writing. No moment when speaking to him do you not feel enamored and wanting to learn more. He keeps just the right shade of mystery around himself too to keep himself interesting.
Besides, even though his survival was optional, it was so overwhelmingly picked that Blizzard decided to make it canon. So going forward Tosh is alive.
Cool, but can you translate that in game? Form a gameplay perspective they both turn invisible and they both use a rifle.
Honestly Specters are just Ghosts with slight tweaks. Even in SC2 their template is from a Ghost. They are different, but honestly not that different.
But aren’t there more Starcraft assassins than Overwatch assassins? Starcraft has ten assassins, Overwatch only has four. That said Starcraft only has one Tank, so should we prioritize a Starcraft tank instead?
Think of it more like this. Out of the few overwatch heroes we have, 4 of them are assassins. That’s like… 75% of the overwatch roster. And Overwatch doesn’t have a tank at all, so Overwatch should prioritize a tank. Also… there aren’t many tanks to pull from with Starcraft. You could maybe make one up, like an immortal hero. But named heroic characters, there aren’t many that can qualify as a tank. But Overwatch there is literally a role full of tanks to pick.
Again, Specters and Ghosts have completely different abilities, and Tosh also had different abilities from Nova that were not present in either Specters or ghosts. Tosh can pull from his lore being a voodoo terrazine addicted Psionic space pirate that was a renegade specter. And also use moves from the Specter spell list, and the ones from Tosh himself. Plenty and I mean plenty to pull from. More so than most starcraft characters if you think about it.
Tosh keeps a butterfly knife that he uses often is seen playing with in campaign. he also has a voodoo doll that can attach to people and cause them pain. This is seen when he pricks the um… codpiece area of the doll and Tychus yells in pain the next frame.
I agree that a OW tank or support should be next. However for SC majority of it’s main characters are assassins.
While SC does not have many characters to be tanks, they do have a good amount. Such as Talandar, or maybe Selendis. Or maybe have some based on units, like a marauder. Blaze was born in the nexus, so we can be creative.
Also if we cannot have a tank, why not a support or healer instead?
I have no problem inventing abilities. However from what I have seen they try to make SC heroes closer to their unit than their character. Taking this into account, Tosh would most likely be closer to a normal Specter than Tosh himself.
While they have different skill sets, in the end Specters are just copy and pasted Ghosts with tweaked functions.
If you want give Tosh brand new abilities from lore, sure that can work. However I am not sure if the dev team would do that. Though it is a good idea.
