Why do you think blizzard ignores the report system?

pretty much title says it all, my last topic of “Why are silences just straight up bans now” got deleted because of “harassment” apparently, so why do you guys think that blizzard is ignoring this glaring issue of their game

Its significantly easier and cost efficient to have an automated system with no human oversight than it is to pay people to look at the reports and investigate.

then just remove the system outright that would be easiest

Because they have the feeling they need to play the world police and create a safe space for their casual players who are offended by everything and everyone and don’t get the fact that the normal people can already use the mute button and maturity filter, which by the way are in the game…

rant over.

I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a financial incentive to keep it in place.

Laziness and stupidity only explain so much. If it was losing money hand over fist, even the short sighted Activision management would take notice.

It has to be at very worst not losing money vs the old silence then ban system.

You can say all you want about match quality, top players leaving, hardcore fan base leaving etc and it may even be all true, but I don’t think that matters to them if the game is making more money from what you might deride as ‘snowflakes’ than not.

Well i wouldn’t blame them for ignoring someone with such a stellar avatar name for once.

My main account of over 4 years of playing just got banned perma status.

I said things like Get GUD, and this is trash, and your dmg is sh**t.

In response to people that flamed me for dual soaking lanes instead of getting camps, for not engaging 9 v 10 in levels, for soaking instead of feeding 1 at a time for an objective that is lost. I shouldn’t have responded, but I did, because there is no logic to player in gold, plat level in TL. Its my fault for being in this MMR, because I don’t care about TL, because its trolling. HL used to be fun and actually worth the time, till Blizz killed the pro scene, and sent everyone away and make solo que reducing wait time so that people could play more games in TL instead of HL.

The worst part about the ban, is my last words were in Brawl. I had a fenix that was 0-10 with lower dmg than the healing morales. When he said GG, I lost my cool. Told him he GG cuz you literally are trash.

I was wrong for that. Baby RAGE…

RIP AirJordan23#1330 Lvl 145 Sonya all heroes unlocked, in 1.0 I bought over 22 master skins.

If you got suspended, I don’t see how that shows they’re ignoring issues. It shows they’re doing something about it.

When it comes to the reporting system they show signs that they are either unwilling to make changes to correct the situation or they simply don’t care about what we think and have that “We know better” attitude. Either way it is very doubtful they will change it in the future.

How would you fix it though?

Like which reporting model would work?

Well, the first thing that should be implemented would be reports per games played not per a fixed time period so those who play a lot aren’t in a higher risk of getting silenced/banned than those that play less often.
I would also relax the rules a little bit to a point where the system is still effective in extreme cases of abusive language when i expect most if not all teammates to report a player than when it’s just something like a simple f*** you which will naturally not get as many reports.
There are already effective tools in place to deal with abusive players (mute button, block communication) and if Blizzard had bigger faith in their community it could clean up itself.

Well I disagree on relaxing the rules because there’s a mute button. Simply because if someone is disruptive enough to be muted, a report is also justified. Muting someone who was abusive doesn’t change the fact that they were abusive. And since you want your players to have a good experience. Allowing someone to give them a bad one is not a good idea when it’s in your power to prevent it.

Second, no insult or verbal abuse on your teammates will ever be useful. Like ever. So I can’t see any reason to tolerate even some of it.

Maybe that could have been done. But now you have people who have no followings jumping on controversy to gain even the smallest amount of notoriety. In short streamers and wannabe streamers back stabbed you.

Personally I think removing things based on how useful they are is a pretty terrible mindset myself. RIP eye’s of the beast. You will be missed.

The real reason is kinda more prosaic than you might think. Who do you think were those ~800 employees that got fired? And it wasn’t the first batch of people send off. 12 or more years ago, when WOW player base was around 10 mil active accounts (around 2010ish?) Whenever you posted a GM ticket, you got a replay within 1 - 2 HOURS in game. Now that the game is down to ~2mil players. You send a ticket and you get e-mail response within 48 hours (if you’re lucky). They keep the developers beucase they bring the money to the company, however the customer support and whatnot are being fired because they are not making money… they cost money. It’s not that Blizz is IGNORING reports… it’s that there is hardly anyone left to read all that… and then every case of report HAS to be verified. So the replay of the game where abuse was reported has to be watched by someone (anyone can report anyone for whatever reason, even no reason at all) and based on that potential steps must be taken. It’s a chore… and takes time and effort… and employees.

cheers.

hmm bans instead of silences and the population grows ever shorter, GREAT JOB TO TRY TO KEEP A DYEING GAME ALIVE BLIZZARD

The hardest thing for a lot of people (and companies) is to admit that they’ve made a mistake. I think that their current iteration of the punishment system takes things too far with bans and suspensions for toxic chat. The punishment just doesn’t fit the crime here and they really ought to dial that back.

Players already have tools to deal with toxic chat/voice and the silence system was a strong enough punishment for repeat offenders.

if you care for your account , first thin’ you do - check report/ban system of your game.
you can observe this in-game report options and check forums over -banned_cry_cry- tops.
Current system works ok if you consider the fact twas mentioned several times by developers. you were warned so its legal and fair. and you got all the options in everyway you want to communicate with others.
You wanna blame everyone - get your “abusive”. you solo when team needs you - “afk/bot” alon’ with “abusive” for a ride.
its really hard to avoid reports in this game
but do you really think you will get away in any other?

this has been the only game in gaming history that I have played that I have had this kind of problem with the report system

from what mi heard - LoL system got very strict ban rules.
in hots you receive several warnin’s before perma. you can avoid it if you are not dumb

They had it wrong all along since the start tbh… Instead of letting players “choose their faith” when it comes to matching/blocking and stuff, i.e. block player being what should’ve been in the first place = NOT PLAY TOGETHER anymore and maybe even cap it to something like 10 at a time

They IGNORRED the power of self-awareness of people that actually want to do “internet diplomacy” (and to a lesser extent “internet justice”) on their own FOR THEMSELVES only (or mostly) and what happened rather was them create that “Overmind Sauron” system that HOLDS ALL THE INFO AND DECISIONS all by itself whilest the CORE characteristics of it being:

1 = low forgiveness, and
2 = trust noone

Just imagine how stupid it is, to think that an “all seeing eye” could (and would) take proper care of all kinds of the situations (and interactions) that affect negatively on the gameplay that DID or haven’t yet BUT MAY occur

To an extent the “communication” has become reminescent to what Kerrigan/Raynor first interaction was: “You pig !”, “What ?, I didn’t say anything”, “Yeah but you were thinking it…”

I mean come on = how much crazier can things become until FINALLY the real decision is done and let players THEMSELVES do “their part of personal justice” on their own !

No, you can’t… You may certainly behave nicely and delay the issue (or have it never happen in the first place), but make no mistake = the system as is is NON FORGIVABLE, literally like old-school style police = meaning once you get “in the file” you’ll gonna get worse and worse treatment despite the “strength or size” of your “latest crimes”
