I’m gonna grab ETC or Johanna myself. Someone who can both peel and engage easily, without trashing their ability to do either, matches Mei nicely. The two of us can lock down pursuit or escape easily. I can bring Block Party and Speed Metal as ETC; this will put a bit of a lid on Arty and Rayray’s damage outputs, while Speed Metal is going to help repeal those hooks and help us keep step with Lucio and out of Jaina slows.
I’m probably gonna take Stage Dive, unless these guys hold the formation of a panicked ant colony; they have an extremely steady 2 1 2 formation, with Rayray in the middle while Lucio and Artanis are probably flitting between front and back lines due to their natures while Jaina is holding a comfy backline and Stitches a comfy frontline. Furthermore, anyone but Jaina outside of a Mosh Pit probably means an interruption. Meanwhile, Stage Dive will give me global presence which is gonna hurt ganks. I won’t trust the enemy to get pooled by Mei. If we had Maiev, then Mosh Pit would be a given… and I don’t want to rely on Falstad gusts for the same thing.
Our gameplan is probably to decide on pulling apart the front or back; Mei and I are going to have to go in hard to Icing/Melt as peels, probably her first because Icing slows baseline and then I chase with Face Melt to either boop or scoop players. Then we’re going to create a line between our squish and their tanks while our squish, hopefully, dissembles whomever we’ve caught out. Focus the Lucio would be a good start, but locking down Jaina or Raynor first might be easier when we can keep Lucio out of effective range. Thankfully, unless Hungry Hungry Stitches occurs, they have Jaina for area hard CC and that’s about it, so ETC will bring up our area control and that’s gonna be the big clincher, I think.
Also good! Tyrael is going to bring shields which is going to mean good things for everyone else. My problem with him is he’s lacking the hard control early, which may mean losing fights at that juncture. I also tend to prefer Tyrael with bruisers or assassins, as he sets them up much better.
ETC brings that immediate displacement, which is giving him more of an immediate effect. As a tradeoff, Tyrael will be much better at locking a single target down given Judgement, and will save much better with Sanctuary.
Missed the bans, saw Aba banned and kinda just rolled with it. Good thing I only looked half dumb.
I like how tons of people aren’t questioning solo lane falstad ruining the draft (for me if that was my team)
If I was on an alt I would legit troll. If I get banned from the forum for saying that then ehhh I guess I’d just get angry at falstad and play tilted (that isn’t against the rules). It’d have been the same if someone chose nazeebo or tlv (master tier players choose tlv on a two lane map…)
I missed that part too, I focused entirely on the comp as a whole, so I wasn’t thinking necessarily of lanes since everyone was relatively safe in their lanes, or at least could farm a bit.
I honestly haven’t seen or played Falstad in a long while…
Falstad isn’t the solo laner. It is the biggest of yikes when people draft him as solo lane or say that.
Falstad is in the ranged/flex role, where he should be with the 4 man and catching waves whenever their solo laner can’t. And then right before objectives he might split a bit to get value from his Z.
So much this. I was forced to solo vs an Azmodan earlier yesterday with Fals and it was a bloodbath. He completely pushed the lane down to the fort and nobody would help despite pings. With continued minion summons + minion ult he also had endless meat shields vs the towers.
Falstad is an ok wave clearer (and even at that, not the best) who can quickly rotate between lanes or soak just before an objective, he is not that good at laning vs most heroes.
I don’t follow web sites I follow the actual numbers. At level with Exterminator the 4th shot hits for 299 At level 7 Veteran marksman is hitting for 309 with just 5 stacks. As the levels increase so does the difference.
You are forgetting that 1% is on the base damage that scales by 4% each level. It catches up pretty quick so in the late game jimmy hits much harder than he would with exterminator. Thats the trap. BUT WINRATE !!! Heroes profile reflect the population that turns in replays not the entire population.
While it’s true that the quest at level 1 will hit harder at late game after stacking a good number, this is also the main problem when taking this talent: it is late game talent.
Exterminator will bring you priority in waves and fast getting camps from level 1, while quest doesn’t do anything for you. It will also boost your DPS since the first immortal, which you can defeinitely get with this talent and snowball the game early.
Raynor usually wants to be doing the camps since he is the AA hero in the comp, you lose time stacking. There’s also the problem that people on the enemy team might just rotate and avoid you at all costs, just clearing the waves without letting you stack. Kinda like what you do against KTZ, ZJ and others. Then you are in this awkward situation where you have almost no stacks mid game cause enemy played smart, you don’t have your boosted waveclear, and now there’s even less small fights for you to stack.
Like, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying Veteran is a bad talent cause it is not, but it has its issues and can be countered. You gotta always consider this when picking it. If you are much better than the enemy team, sure you can go for it and just get 100+ stacks and destroy them, but if the enemy is at least a bit smart, you might not have a level 1 for a long time. That’s mainly the reason why it has lower winrate than the other talents.
Heroes profile is the best we got, but if you prefer ignoring data against your point let’s analyze numbers. Collected in try mode.
lvl 4 untalented jimmy 118x3+266 = average 155
lvl 4 veteran 5 stacks 118x3+271 = average 156
lvl 4 ace in the hole vs slowed 130x3+278 = average 167
lvl 4 extermiantor 177x3+325 = average 214
lvl 4 extermiantor with inspire 277x3+430 = average 315
lvl 20 untalented jimmy 221x3+498 = average 290
lvl 20 veteran 40 stacks 221x3+608= average 317
lvl 20 ace in the hole vs slowed 244x3+520= average 313
lvl 20 extermiantor 332x3+609 = average 401
lvl 20 extermiantor with inspire 498x3+775 = average 567
Analysis:
Exterminator
-Starting level 1 MAJOR siege/macro damage advantage
Ace in the hole
-Starting level 1 damage bonus + Utility(slow)
Veteran Marksman
-ZERO value until high stacks
-lvl20 with 40 stacks no real damage advantage over Ace (317 vs 313)
-Nowhere near the siege damage exterminator gives (317 vs 401/567)
-No utility
Over the course of a 20 minute game Veteran marksman, starts providing value 10 minutes into the match and similar value to Ace the last couple of minutes, maybe.
The other two lvl 1 talents give value staring immediately for the whole game.
Are you confusing the burst provided by lvl16 bounty hunter with lvl1 veteran maybe?
Raynor is a sustain damage hero, not finisher nor burst. He is supposed to keep doing high damage from a distance over and over again depleting opponent healer’s mana and priming targets for the finishers. There are far better heroes for delivering the kills.
