Whitemane (Guide Updated)

Hey folks, since I forgot that my Whitemane guide was severely outdated and was linked to Ana’s thread, I thought of renewing that guide for people who “might” be interested in trying out Whitemane.

Without further ado! Let’s get onto it.

Whitemane’s Role
Considering that Whitemane got reworked, her entire playstyle also shifted, it’s best to draft her if you need damage reduction, sustain healing and a short burst damage mitigation.

Abilities

Zeal

Cooldown: 40 seconds

Whitemane’s healing Abilities apply Zeal for 8 seconds. Allies with Zeal are healed for 100% of the damage Whitemane deals to Heroes.

Activate to gain 25% Spell Power and lose 25 Armor for 5 seconds. Can be cast while channeling abilities.

While the trait is still relatively the same, they baked half off ‘Fanatical Power’s’ into it.

Making use of Zeal is to maximize the value of your abilities in team fights, don’t be afraid to use your auto attacks to fire off just a few healing, especially if you’re safe.

Pop the trait if you need the Spell Power. The basics that you could use the trait is when empowering your Heroics, therefore saving you from the trouble of having to risk yourself to the enemy team, pop your ultimate and get massive healing or place Divine Reckoning in an area and just activate your trait.

Desperate Plea [Q]

45 Mana / Cooldown: 0.5 seconds
Heal an allied Hero for 140 and gain Desperation for 4 seconds.

Desperation increases Desperate Plea’s Mana cost by 45, and stacks up to 3 times.

Desperate Plea remained theoretically the same, except more expensive. The old trick is to keep using the old trick of using Desperate Plea every 4 seconds, on allies that needs healing, then unleashing your combo.

Never go past two Desperation, unless you’re extremely desperate. Whitemane’s mana management is worst than before, so you have to make use of it.

The best usage of Desperate Plea in a short team fight is using it twice on allies that’s going into the teamfight, such as a tank or perhaps a DPS.

Inquisition [W]

Cooldown: 12 / 0.5 seconds

Channel on an enemy Hero for up to 3 seconds, dealing 50 damage every 0.5 seconds and Slowing them by 30%. Removes a stack of Desperation.

Shares a cooldown with Clemency.

Considering Inquisition has a little shorter cooldown now and you get Clemency for free.

The general rule for Inquisition is to use it when you’re safe and it’s nice for a sustain healing for people with Zeal, sometimes decent for peeling too.

Clemency can be used when out of combat, it somewhat helps.

Searing Lash

Cooldown: 6 seconds

After 0.5 seconds, smite enemies in a straight line for 82 damage.

If the first strike hits an enemy Hero, a second strike will occur after a short delay.

Searing Lash is a basic ability to poke enemy Heroes and also get a heal for your allies with Zeal.

However, it’s for the best used as a combo for Inquisition and Searing Lash to get the most healing possible, E first then cast W on an enemy.

Heroics

Scarlet Aegis
Cooldown: 60 seconds

Bolster the spirits of nearby allied Heroes, healing them for 250 and granting them 40 Armor for 4 seconds.

Divine Reckoning
Cooldown: 75 seconds

After 1 second, consecrate an area for 4 seconds, dealing 50 damage every 0.5 seconds to enemies inside. 25% of the damage dealt to Heroes is returned as Mana.

Since the rework, both of her heroics became useful.

Scarlet Aegis is the better burst heal and mitigation when it comes to dive teams and it’s much simpler to use.

Divine Reckoning on the other hand provides Mana to Whitemane as well as helps with dive comps on your team.

You can place Divine Reckoning on an area where your team is likely to dive or engage and you can remain from a safe distance.

Builds

Considering Whitemane’s build diversity has gotten worst than before, it’s safe to say she still has some builds that can be used but not recommended.

The safest build to go for, would always be Inquisition build.

Desperate Plea build

Q Build helps with players that are new to Whitemane and to get them accustomed to her, however it’s suboptimal when it comes to performance.

Level 1
Inquisitor’s Prayers

Level 4
Martyrdom

Level 7
Zealous Spirit :white_check_mark:
Intercession
Saintly Greatstaff :x:

Level 10
Scarlet Aegis :white_check_mark:
Divine Reckoning

Level 13
Lashing Out :white_check_mark:
Scarlet Wrath :white_check_mark:

Level 16
Radiance

Level 20
Scarlet Crusade :white_check_mark:
Purge the Wicked :white_check_mark:

Inquisition build

W build is the most optimal build for Whitemane, because it increases her healing, utility as well as usability. However at the price of having to manage her mana well, this is the best build to go to.

If you really want to win, that is.

Level 1
Pity the Frail

Level 4
Martyrdom :white_check_mark:
Indulgence

Level 7
Zealous Spirit :white_check_mark:
Intercession

Level 10
Scarlet Aegis :white_check_mark:
Divine Reckoning :white_check_mark:

Level 13
Subjugation

Level 16
Shared Punishment

Level 20
ALL of the talents in that tier works, while Guiding Light maybe suboptimal.

Auto Attack build

This build is really suboptimal, but it can provide damage when you’re going for a double healer comp, use it when you have an Uther who can mitigate burst damage.

Level 1
Righteous Flame

Level 4
Unwavering Faith

Level 7
Zealous Spirit
Saintly Greatstaff :white_check_mark:

Level 10
Divine Reckoning

Level 13
Scarlet Wrath :white_check_mark:
Lashing Out :white_check_mark:
Subjugation

Level 16
Harsh Discipline
Radiance :white_check_mark:

Level 20
Purge the Wicked
Guiding Light :white_check_mark:

Now that’s all covered, remember that if she doesn’t work for you, then not all Hero works for everyone. However, anyone willing to learn can always overcome their problems with certain Hero.

Thanks for reading my guide, I might get back to my inactive state or check threads here and there.

It worked :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

For the AA build, I think you need Radiance instead of Harsh Discipline. Since her AA fighting style is more about being in close combat, the 35 bonus armor is really nice. Plus, you get omega healing if you QQQ, R, D, 1, W, Q, AA, E, AA. No worries about the mana cost since you get it back with R. I don’t pair E with W since I want to AA as soon as I cast E with Righteous Flame’s bonus AA speed at the cost of Searing Lash’s second proc’s inconsistency. 30% slow from W is nice, but it’s not a guarantee second E proc. Harsh Discipline will guarantee it, but you’ll lose value elsewhere. With only QQQ, D, W, Q combo, you can heal up to 3552 HP at lvl 20 and that’s only by calculating Radiance. What’s fun with Scarlet Wrath + Righteous Flame is that a single Zeal can last up to 19 sec in the perfect scenario instead of 8 sec.

If you’re going for Harsh Discipline, you’re better off with Pity the Frail and Lashing Out to get the maximum W CDR out of it.
