Was that the worst patch in Franchise History?

I’m going to pose the question…

Was this the worst patch in franchise history?
I’ve played almost every game and I cant recall a time there was patch that did so much unasked for damage to one of their games.

I’m not talking about just HOTS, all of their games.

Warlords of Draenor.

Oh, patch. Not expansion…

Expansions are also going live as a patch, so i guess this can count.

Good start, liked the questing but the content drought was extreme. To many cut content . But still the worst expansion behind BFA

Then definitely Warlords of Draenor.

My biggest complaint was how badly they broke PvP when they released it.

Don’t even get me started on Ashran.

for me it was the infamous Healer-Nerf-Patch back in 2017.

I really can’t think of another, really. Not from blizzard. Plenty of dumb decisions they announced ahead of time… The closest thing I can think of was the initial inclusion of Brig in Overwatch and the subsequent creation of the GOATS strategy that ruined the game for several seasons.

The patch where they kill HGC. Even though HGC in retrospect was a money sink and overall mistake. The way the handled it was not very good/

I never really followed any other games as much as I did HotS. I don’t play SC2 PvP, only Arcade, and I don’t play any other Blizzard games anymore (I used to play OW before I got bored).

But for HotS, there is one that absolutely takes the cake: The 2017-2018 Laning Changes and Stealth Rework patch.
That patch probably did more damage to this game than the majority of other changes in this game’s history combined.

It left laning completely broken for months and it took a full year and a whole 'nother major set of laning changes to get all the wrinkles ironed out.

It also ruined the stealth mechanics for many former stealth players and completely failed to solve any of the issues the mechanic had or was causing. In fact, it actually exacerbated a few of them.

Next to that, the patch where Dustin Browder’s old matchmaking system was thrown out and replaced with Dabiri’s.
Going from 30 second queue times to 6 was nice. That was not worth going from 25% of my matches being complete stomps to 75%+, and apparently a lot of people agreed. To this day matchmaking remains one of the most broken facets of this game.

Basically the same post but “2.0”

Needs attention I guess.

Bringing back Gul’dan is a huge mistake in my opinion. Alternate universes make me so upset. Garrosh should have paid for his crimes! #warchiefsylvanas4ever  :purple_heart:

LOL… Whatever team came up with the idea for Trashran should have been fired on the spot.

How the hell did something that bad ever make it live? I can’t think of any worse version/instance of PvP in WoW’s history, and that’s saying something, cuz there was a lot of bad changes to PvP (like the vehicle combat battlegrounds - Strand of the Ancients and Isle of Conquest). I think I might have to put Isle of Conquest in a distant 2nd behind Trashran.

Sylvanas committed exactly the same crimes, but with boobs and that makes it ok?

Good to know where you stand.

Nice of you to assume where I stand.

Since when did Sylvanas give two craps about others? Not since she was a high elf. Not saying what she’s done is right, but aren’t orcs obsessed with honor and glory? Sylvanas is conniving and evil, yes, but that’s what you’d expect from her. You’d expect Garrosh to have some honor in him since he’s obsessed with being a “true orc”. His father was a true orc, Doomhammer was a true orc, Blackhand was a true orc.

You know who Garrosh reminds me of? Gul’dan. A coward. The crimes I’m talking about are the crimes of dishonoring the Horde, then slipping away and bringing back Gul’dan.

Tell me again how this was about boobs.

Didn’t mean to like your post. My mistake.

Garrosh was every bit a “true orc” as those leaders. He behaved exactly like the old horde and died exactly them too because he idolized a bunch of murderous idiots who confused bloodstains with honor.

Gul’dan at least had a plan beyond kill everyone who doesn’t look like him and call it glorious.

Doomhammer, Durotan, Grom and Thrall all didn’t like Gul’dan or support the fel. So if he’s as true as the others then he wouldn’t have brought back Gul’dan to save is own booty. He’s a coward that couldn’t face the consequences of his actions. He might have been similar during most of his reign as warchief, but that one act was a crime aganst Azeroth as well as the Horde.

Sylvanas wasn’t a good Warchief either but you already knew that. She’s evil and only cares for herself and the Forsaken, and power. That’s expected with her character. Garrosh is hypocritical and a coward.

Btw you forgot to mention how it was about boobs.

Seems your assumption fell through the cracks. Don’t assume what you don’t know. I like Sylvanas. Sue me, but don’t go saying I only want her as warchief and to be forgiven of her crimes on the sole fact that she has breasts.

Durotan and Thrall are the only ones on that list who didn’t support the fel, the others fully supported anything that gave them an edge in senseless slaughter.

Coincidentally, Garrosh considered Durotan and Thrall cowards while he idolized the other two idiots who literally sold their race to the legion in order to slaughter inocents better.

He didn’t. He brought Gul’dan back to give him an army to slaughter everyone who disagreed with him, which is exactly what the true orcs you listed would do.

That’s not speculation, that’s literally what they did in both timelines. All Garrosh did was follow the glorious orcish tradition of selling your race out for power and murdering people who aren’t a threat to you.

Garrosh explicitly idolized the Old Horde, how is acting like the old horde in any way not expected of him?

Not really. The only demonstrable difference is still boobs. Your argument that Garrosh being a violent racist is somehow different from all the other violent racists you consider “proper” orcs is what falls through.

I don’t know if this was the worst HoTs patch or idk. Sure Tassadar’s rework was disappointing to support mains (Including me) and the new towers hurt melee assassin mains. But still not sure about it’s awfulness.
The worst patch in the franchise history is Overwatch’s patch that removed Mercy’s Mass Rez.
