i am getting sub 50fps in fights on lowest settings and only 90 when just laning. Which is weird because before upgrading to my 7800x3d i was getting 200fps on high settings with my 3600x.
Make sure that the display you are playing on is connected to the 5700xt discrete GPU, and not the motherboard 7800X3D IGPU.
Check resource usage while playing, especially when frame capped. Maybe check temperatures and other throttle indicators in case there is a hardware issue with the system such as improperly installed cooler.
cpu is running at 48c, my displayport is connected to my gpu and not the motherboard. When i check resource manager the game only uses 2 of my cores while the rest are at 0%
And GPU? Since those numbers seem what I would expect from the CPU side.
What OS are you on?
If you’re on windows, check that the game is added in Radeon Software and Graphics Settings in System (Check High Performance or Specific GPU.)
Which Driver are you running?
Had similar issues before, and the 5700 XT + 3800x that was used at that time, could go between sub 20fps and then just blasting through 500fps+ - Turns out it was just the refreshrate of the monitor in HotS was “Default”, which was not the default that was used regularly.
It defaulted to like 144hz instead of 60hz and then the monitor just flipped back and forth while the graphics card and processor were like “Well, this is our life now”
Make sure the resolution and the refreshrate are correct, try enabling vsync and see if it helps.
Have you updated your chipset and GPU drivers?
They contain a package with power settings for your CPU that need to be reinstalled when switching CPU:s (If you dont provision it through package management, which would still need to be altered due to the large difference between the 3000 series and 7000 series, especially the x3D models)
Most likely though it sounds like it’s not being registered as a D3D game - Try going into your install directory for HotS (C:\Games\Heroes of the Storm as an example)
Open the versions folder and the folder that was most recently modified. Add the containing executable to Radeon Software manually and try.
Whatever OS you’re using, have you tried whitelisting the application in your AV?
Exploit protection (CFG, DEP, ASLR, SEHOP) in Windows ruins performance in some (well, alot) games.
This can be adjusted by going into Security, app & browser control → exploit protection → Program settings → Add Exclusion → Add program either by name or direct it to the files.
It’s quite hard to troubleshoot since the information is limited, do you get any errors in the logs located at “:\Users\Documents\Heroes of the Storm\GameLogs”
Most likely it’s something simple like not being added/recognized by OS/Driver, or just a simple filecheck.
Sysinfo would be great if you still need help
