A guy called “Miselfo” asked me earlier today the brilliant question of why i don’t take portal mastery.
To make it short, it’s a form of activism. Portal mastery is the best level 1 talent and arguably the only one that does something, its like comparing a 100$ with a 5$ and a 10$. If Winds of celerity and the other bird talent had their effects removed due to a bug, and they did nothing because they are bugged, no Medivh player would notice because the bird talents never make any impact in any game.

to put it all in proper context, here it is .

why not take portal mastery ??? all other lvl 1 talents are borderline irrelevant in comparision and i personally only pick them when i want to change things up a bit even when knowing my plays will not be optimal by doing so . i’ve said it multiple times, even if that talent would cut Medivh’s HP in half, id still go for it !

Because it is the only choice that does something and i don’t pick it out of protest. It allows people to have a less risky and exciting playstyle.

Thats a self contradiction there .
Because if you pick anything else , your portal locations are always going to be predictable.

You cant set up portals with boths ends away from you or cant set up portal as your walking .
I also means during fights , if you’re also fighting , that your allies must stay close to you in order to use them.
Portal mastery remove those inconviniences.

The only thing automatic portals does better than manual is for your own personal escape if you need portal done at the same location you are one. Besides that , all other lvl 1 talents are useless in comparision.

I think i didnt get my point across, i agree with you completely. I said i dont pick portal mastery because portal mastery is the best talent by far, portal mastery makes Medivh’s playstyle much less risky, much less interactive and much less fun. That’s what i meant.

When you take portal mastery, you are encouraged to place portals in bird form, there is no counterplay and no risk involved in placing those bird portals. You never have any need of thinking about your positioning because portal mastery has a great range and gives no risk. This is the purest form of low quality game-design that i have found in this game ever.

quick point.

to me , setting up portals in bird for is almost irrelevant for me, its all about the manual portals.
the whole set up portals in bird form could be completely removed and i wouldnt care less lol

This impacts your damage output negatively and makes you play like a support who takes no risks and acts like the child of a shield-bot and a taxi service.

i HEAVILY oppose this point !
in fact portal mastery allows you to be a fighting on the front line and still assist allies with portal.

picking portal mastery increases my damage and my team’s damage since at a moment’s notice i can get them to safety while continuing to fight .

I wish Portal mastery was removed from the game, it encourages passive, risk-free, uninteractive and boring playstyle. I never take it, but all who do suffer in the long term because they do.

if you think portal mastery used optimally reduces your damage, makes you play uninteractively and a boring play style … i dont care what rank you are , win rate or what eve else you may want to bring to the equation,
