The truth original HoTS characters, like Qhira

HoTS, here’s the harsh truth, the vast majority of people don’t care about HoTS original characters. We play your game because we get to play as our favorite original characters from Blizzard’s games, even if it’s a character with a personality you created like Sgt hammer, it’s still a unit from StarCraft. Thus leading to unit in a Blizzard game, it works because these characters, like hammer, matches the Blizzard universe. I get it, HoTS as lore, but we don’t want characters from this lore to become an actual playable hero. We play the game for playing the characters we grew up with, they are what still hooks us to HoTS. Especially not a character from Wakanda, atleast Orphea had a connection to the lore, unlike Okoye over here whom people on twitter desperately want on overwatch.

Yes Qhira was random ,considering how say, Grommash is wanted or somebody like that, but it doesn’t mean that Nexus Heroes aren’t a cool thing and don’t need to be added.

I think there is a time & place for original heroes, to not stifle the creativity of the dev team. However before any new original heroes come out (after Qhira of course) we really add some of the most iconic characters from the other series’. Such as, WHERE IS BAAL?!? He’s really such a great, interesting and charismatic figure from Diablo, there are tons of ways that he could be converted into a HotS hero. I’m excited just @ the thought of what the passive of the Lord of Destruction would have! So far though let’s not crucify any new champs or concepts till we see how the implementation comes through.

I dont mind nexus heroes all that much. As long as they are fun to play as and to play against then I think they are fine. I will say tho that Qhira feels like she has no weaknesses.

She’s a melee assassin who specializes in gap closing.

Her weakness is obviously closing the wrong gap and finding herself in a jam she can’t escape from.

relying on your opponents to play poorly and make mistakes is a weakness of the player, not a weakness of Qhira. If Qhira dives in 1v5 under towers and insta dies she didnt die because the other team played around her weaknesses she died because she did something stupid.

yes and giggity to that.

First of all I love Orphea, I hate a good Orphea, and I love crushing an Orphea who misses her dash. There is no part of Orphea I hate, except for, the tears from people who hate her existence. As for Qhira she looks imba but also cool with nice synergy and lets be real, Blizzard is bad at creating black heroes, much less a female who doesn’t fill a specific mold. I love Lucio, Nidalee and Tyrael, and I think both companies went the right direction. I’m still waiting for Obama Lucio skin even after all these years. Back on track Blizzard needs some black heroes, not villains, see Narud, who is technically also an old white man scientist, if only for a technicality and shift in his story arc. I’m glad she exists and I hope she’s part of SC3 even though my friend would not stop ranting about the differences between Dehaka, primal zerg, and t-rex creatures she faces.

Do people want Grommash and Baal? I don’t doubt it but ideas take time. Blizzard is really good and brainstorming and eventually creating cohesive ideas. Mephisto is amazing but he is nothing like his D2 character and thank god because it wouldn’t translate well but the Mephisto we have now is amazing in hots and well worth the wait.

Same goes for Imperius who is just amazing from everything in his kit to his quips about how weak Tyrael is. It took a LONG time to flesh out Imperius and I’m certain he was on the radar a long time but doing things right doesn’t just happen over night for every hero. It’s a process. They pitch ideas, they pitch niches and ideas for the ideas, they counter argue the flaws in the pitches and eventually distill all those ideas down to the core product we eventually get.

You won’t always like every hero, I’m not a fan of Alex, but I play her and I appreciate her even if she is not my favorite or go to support.

So, Blizzard, 10/10.
