The names of the heroes in katakana

I like Japanese language and some times I study katakana (the syllabary that they use for foreign words and other stuff) by searching for things I’m familiar with so I searched for Heroes of the storm and I found a page for Japanese players.

Ups, I mistaked the “a” for a “u”, it should be J A N K U R A T T O

Sadly it doesn’t work in katakana, however, in hiragana is close to a Japanese girl name.

Phonetic approximations between alphabets with different systems are always a sight to behold; thanks for that post.

Fenikkusu is more pronounced as: FuENIKKUSU
Made everything big to emphasize the light u.

Nice to see your interest in Japanese language. I’m Japanese myself.
I got to admit though, more often than not, I feel awkward when people are into Japanese culture when they talk to me. Probably the most awkward part is when people ask me what kind of anime I watch and I tell them I don’t like anime (not all Japanese watch/like anime! :persevere:).

Edit: Lol, forgot the -I- in the pronouciation.

Gishki,

Now do a thread where you do the same thing for the poster’s names in the forums. Whoever posts in that thread will get their name translated like you did here.

Sorry but I don’t have the skills to do that. I’m still bronze in Japanese language.

I can relate to that, I always feel awkward when some English speaker tries to speak to me in Spanish or when someone asks me about futbol. Yes, I’m mexican but that doesn’t mean I like futbol.

I think that should be “Uusaa”, 'cause the “ta” looks like タ (like in Tychus), and 'cause they almos always use an “s” sound for the english “th”.
(source: I’m also “bronze in japanese” )

Hope you don’t mind a completely unrelated question, but since you’re japanese: Do people in japan make a distinction between “anime” and other types of animation? 'cause I think they don’t (i.e. they call cartoons “anime”), but I don’t know where I got that idea, and it has proven difficult to double-check.

I feel it is a silly question to ask. It perhaps borders on stereotype.

I’d rather hang out with you so you can show me all the cool spots! I would love to visit Japan. See the land.

I thought that moniker was just how the word “killer” would sound in Japanese.

Not so much changed here. Other heroes have more epic names on this language.

Cursed one.
