I’m gonna play Starcraft 2 now because it’s too frustrating to play HotS right now with that frame drop.
By the way, my specs. You can see my pc is far from a toaster since it can run every game at high or high mid in some cases (mostly due to the 3gb ram of the GPU)
If I would try to run Doom eternal yes, the GPU would have issues especially with textures but HotS is not a game that uses the GPU a lot. HotS is an old game that is not too hard to run and my GPU is way more powerful than what the game requires.
Drastic frame drop (less than 15 fps) whenever some “event” happen, it could be obj, anomaly, ult, change of level, etc. It started back when GoT was reworked but it was not an issue, but after the last patch it happens a lot more.
Also the settings doesn’t matter. Is the same on ultra and low.
Start Menu>Settings>System>About
Here it will tell you the processor/graphics and the RAM
If you want a more in depth specs you can benchmark your PC using userbenchmark.com Its free and tells you which parts you have and ranks your PC in 3 categories. Gaming, Workstation, and Desktop. Give it a shot.
By what you described it looks a lot like my issue, i have a really old gpu, and since 1 month it starts to freeze for 1 sec during the game, and in that second i cant controll my hero. Btw there could be 2 things that could cause that:
Psu, its one of the most important thing in a pc, try to see if it doesnt have some problems
gpu, its starting to die, or there could be some thermal throttling, if you gpu reach high temps that could be the problem.
Now the only thing i could advice you are: try to use a different psu, if using a different psu nothing changes and you still have issues it is probably your gpu, ask friends if they can borrow you a gpu just to test and see how it works,if its thermal throttling or you cant buy a new gpu at the moment, try to buy an “ARCTIC Accelero Xtreme” which is a better cooling system for gpus, ofc choose it for your model.
Thats all, ofc i didnt included things like update your drivers because its probably a thing that everyone does. So i hope i helped you, have a nice day.
I have a 500w gold quality or something like that.
It works super good with all other games. Recently I started playing Titan Fall 2 and works amazingly. I also played a little of shadow of war and doom 2016 and they run without major issue. In fact, I had to reduce the settings of doom because of the high quality (I got sick).
I have a Cooler Master RR-212E-20PK-R2 and the temperature never rises of 29 playing HotS. The temperature of the GPU is 60 or less playing hots.
Sometimes playing The witcher 3 my FPS dropped when I started the game or use fast travel, but it was just a couple of seconds. the rest of the session was played over 60 FPS.
So, no, it is not my pc, is the game.
This PC has a lower CPU than mine but look how runs Doom Eternal:
I apreciate the halp but I not a noob in the matter. Yes, I’m not an expert but I studied to make my pc. After lots of testing I reached the conclusion is the game.
My PC laughs about the official requirements, but those are wrong apparently and this 2015 game requires a lot more due to the bad optimization.
well the arctic accelero extreme is a cooling system for gpu not for cpu. Give it a look, my gpu also doesnt goes more than 60-65 in summer and yet in hots i have the same problem, while i can play other games with no issue.
I have 940MX, 4 GB and other potato features for my notebook yet I don’t experience any slows in this aspect. I think it might be rooted in peculiar hardware interactions or something entirely else than simply lacking the power to run the game.
I had issues like that, I could never figure out what the problem was. I noticed my SSD was getting a little low on space, so I removed some things, including HOTS, then I reinstalled HOTS and that seems to have fixed the issue.
But yes, HOTS does seem to be poorly optimised, if I run it at 4k I can really hear the fans kick in, compare that to another game of the same period like GTA and I can run that at 4k and the CPU/GPU stays cool as a cucumber.
I recommend posting or moving this to the Tech Support forum, as it will likely be seen and addressed much more quickly than in General Discussion. I have had good luck with responses there.
it seems to be random. my pc isn’t that great and i haven’t had any issues with weather effects at all and your pc is far better than mine atm at least and you’re having issues seems like a bug tbh some error whatsoever happens to specific player’s only no matter what PC specs you have
l also don’t have any lags, but the problem is in pretty much every single game I played with someone with enormous lags or with someone who spent the whole game disconnecting and reconnecting over and over again…
