I had this issue where the launcher would not “open” (but appear in Processes list). I tried everything like clearing the cache under ProgramData, reinstalling it (needed to disable Avast shields to do this), etc.; however, nothing seemed to work. I even added the Battle.net folder under Program Files (x86) to be excluded in Avast.
What ended up working was this, in case anyone else has the same issue:
- set the Battle.Net App shortcut to Run as Administrator
- add 2 exclusions:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Battle.Net* (or where ever you installed the Battle.net app)
- C:\ProgramData\Battle.Net*
I didn’t realize that the Update Agent runs from the ProgramData folder. This all started happening recently so I think a recent update to Avast doesn’t like binaries running from under there or something. Also, I have rebooted since and it still seems to work.
