supposedly going afk is too, they just don’t do anything about it
No no I’m talking forum rules not in-game.
the forum blocks it from being posted.
It probably is because they cannot filter out emoji that the forum uses from being options or something like that.
BUT they can prevent the actual “name” of the Emoji from being posted.
(I just tried a test post, and it rejected it with that emoji in it).
Huh. You know I never actually tried using it cuz I was afraid of being punished.
Why have it then? I guess maybe they’re using a third party’s emojis and so it just came with the rest?
I imagine they’re part of the discourse forum software, yeah.
(and my plan was to delete the post if it worked, before reporting it to QA to pass on to whomever could fix it).
Cant use it thought it says it contains the word F U lol
Profanity is against the rules, but the amusing thing is I see Battletags all the time that have masked and unmasked language that if I typed those words on the forums I would get flagged and suspended.
Don’t tell me to report for “inappropriate name” as I have for years on some account names that are really offensive, but they still remain untouched.
Odd thing is too, some of those names don’t get past the in game profanity filter, but they get past the B-Tag creation system. I have a friend who wanted to use her name Linda, but the system said “it was an offensive word”…lul
Blizzard is such a tease.
I can show you the fourth one and it’d mean the same for some countries.
lol, rekt
Sounds reallly strange it would do that for a common name like that unless the name itself is banned for some unknown reason. I did some research and Linda is only banned in saudi arabian.
Lol, it’s hilarious ;fu; (with : ) is a real emoji in the forum software
I don’t know, the resistance to ‘profanity’ is a mass delusion anyway.
It makes less sense in game where there’s a filter you can have on… or turn off.
Some people are just
That’s one of the things that always annoys me about hyper-sensitive moderation (which is especially prevalent on Blizzard forums).
We’re all at the age where we know swear words (if we’re not violating the age limitation for this game). We’re all at the age where we probably say them aloud at times. No one here needs to be protected from someone else swearing. It may be rude, yeah, but no one is being hurt.
And if any of us feel the desire to be protected from the impropriety of swearing, there’s a filter for that. Turn it on to hide the swearing rather than preventing others from swearing entirely.
And some of the things you’re not allowed to say on here are pretty ridiculous as well. I just recently got punished for saying the Japanese word for “pervert.” Seriously? Who even gets offended by that, JWs and Mormons? Is that who we have in charge of censorship at Blizzard?
It’s a game that is rated T. Anything that isn’t necessarily appropriate for a 13 year old is off limits.
Many cursing/swear words wouldn’t make it in a T rated movie in the US so not sure why they would be allowed in the forum.
Personally I think it is silly. And overreaches in many cases. But “there’s a filter” is a poor defense. Game is rated T. Language which is not overwhelmingly accepted as being fit for 13 years old to use is not okay.
It wouldn’t let her use the name and said it was against the naming convention rules. Maybe it’s because as you say it’s illegal in Saudi Arabia, perhaps Blizz have added it to their list?
The thing that I don’t understand is why so many masked and unmasked offensive Btags exist? If I quoted them here they won’t get past the forum profanity filter (or the in game profanity filter) and the ones I could quote would get me suspended from the forums.
