…the Nexus Pals / The Toys are Back in Town event. December 16th to March 5th, and STILL going. We’re closing in on THREE MONTHS! I hate almost everything about this event - the skins, portraits, emojis. I have literally stop playing because I don’t want any of those trash chests. Can we PLEASE get some new content?!? My guess is that the entire dev team been fired, are on a three month bender, been quarantined on a Coronovirus cruise ship, or possibly all been arrested.

I’ve always said, for everything out there that’s TERRIBLE, whether it’s TV, music, movies etc - like Nickelback, Taylor Swift, Star Wars the Last Jedi, Donald Trump or cream corn for example - there’s always someone who inexplicably likes it, no matter HOW bad it is. I guess we can put Tazrizen down for Nexus Pals. Do you like it so much because it reminds you of when you were a kid and Care Bears made you feel all funny in your pants?

Wait, you don’t like free loot chests? I’ve gotten quite a bit of legendary skins for characters so far from them that I otherwise wouldn’t have had.

So the 3 non-event things in lootboxes are pointless to you then, because the 4th is event related? I have farmed 3000+ shards out of this event, never mind all the non-event skins i’ve gotten.

Part of the appeal of the seasonal events is that they’re a short-time thing to have fun with. Then you go back to the regular game. I think there’s something to be said for keeping special events special and limiting their time.
Sure, all active players benefit from the easy loot boxes. I have a ton of them still waiting to be opened because I like to open them sparingly after good games, rather than just as they drop. No one’s complaining about the rewards. That’s a straw man. What people complain about is 1) they don’t like the theme (art is subjective), and 2) they think this event has lasted too long.
After the Blizz team gutted the HotS team (with everything else) and pulled the majority of their talent to D4, the skeleton crew left on HotS tried to turn the once-special events into full-on Diablo III-type 3 month seasons. I get why they did it, but it killed the flavor of the event. The Christmas event lasted too long. We lost the Lunar New Year event and it’ll be coming a month late when the spring event launches in April. By the time we hit the summer event, the actual summer will be halfway over in July. Is that really what we want?

…actually, it could be all of the above. Maybe they got fired en masse, and so decided to go on a 3-month bender cruise. They have since been quarantined due to coronavirus, and were arrested trying to leave the ship!

I appreciate the events. But man this one was soooo long. It seriously felt like the dev team dropped this event and then spent the rest of the time not making WC3 Reforged better. Just…make the events better, and don’t waste 3-4 months of the year with an event. It’s not special if it’s a 3rd of the year.
I understand if people don’t like the theme or thinking it has gone on too long, and wanting new content. Everyone has different opinions.
OP said that they stopped playing because of the event and trash items, and has insinuated that people who like it are ****philes. I think that is a bit extreme.

This person speaks the truth. If we didn’t have this event now, we would have no events at all until the next one…
And don’t forget that it gives time for people to grind some doritos and get those nice skins. When events were really short, I was never able to buy most skins or even buy 1 for each hero D:

I like the Super Nintendo cartridges in the top left of the loading screen. Theres nothing more awesome than blowing into the cartridge and have the game magically work again. It’s like having special powers.
imagine complaining about free content that you paid nothing to make it happen… as if they were asking you to donate money to keep it running.

Honestly, I think a loot chest system like the toy event has should be permanent (Given how 99% of what’s in chests are literally garbage). Maybe toned down a little, but quite similar.

They even said last month or in January that the event will end in April.
They’re not really bad, they’re just not creative either so all of their songs sound like the same one decent song.
You just gotta Shake It Off.
With their reduced team, they make fewer events and just let them go on for longer.
At least we still get new things.
Sadly the same can’t be said for maps.
