Should kills and deaths be hidden?

It’s Christmas almost? Does that work? I don’t think I’m entitled to a reply, but there is almost 100 likes to the main thread, it’s not just me who would like to understand the reasoning why they removed this metric, when there was no reason to.

Well, it needs to be meme-able, like every $#%@ing thing on the internet.
Christmas? Hmm, could help. Are you somehow disabled and yet able to play HOTS and complain about it on the forums? Everyone likes a sob story to give the poor kid what they wish for and make the papers. PR-speak levels will increase.

Then maybe you will get your answer.

I know you’re probably trolling but this is a horrendous idea. If you’re dying enough that people are “bullying you over your death count” (which is probably people actually asking you to stop feeding, since reporting you for feeding doesn’t seem to be working), the problem is probably you. Seriously, if you want to convince us, post some replays of you being bullied.

Also, I really wish people stopped making these kinds of silly threads. We already had the ability to see enemy team mates that are partnered with each other removed. We STILL don’t have a public API for HOTS and thus are forced to use things like HOTSLOG (which I believe is still down so we must use even more inferior outlets like HEROESPROFILE). PLEASE STOP ASKING FOR BASIC FEATURES TO BE REMOVED.

My partner of 22 years died in April if that helps the devs give the community a simple answer. My partner would not be surprised if it didn’t, loved Blizz games, but was wise enough to see through the gloss.

I feel like the opposing rapper in 8 mile after Em dropped a load of reality…

Libations are in order. If I’m going too far, let me know

I mean… Maybe. What purpose do they serve in game? None, really

Seem to remember them mentioning the forums in their last update.
Also got some feedback from the developers after that on the forums.

I think they watch the forums quite carefully, they just don’t reply as often.

This is pure insanity. Removing stats will not help one bit except to make terrible players think they did well and result in more losses from throwing jerks. It would even actively harm skilled players’ ability to assess and improve during a game. Just stop. Stop protecting whiny people. Stop taking everything from everyone to preserve the feelings of babies. Stop coddling people and force them to grow some resilience. Stop ruining everything.

The forums do get responses but the feedback and concerns raised here more or less just overlap with Reddit anyways, so it is more or less redundant. That aside they do tend to go into more detail and frequency over there, the AMAs are held there remember. There is just a better system at play in Reddit with regard to how questions are forwarded to the relevant dev, if you observe Blizz representative brings to attention what needs to be forwarded and you’ll see the concerned dev come forward they’re more transparent about the process.

But honestly this isn’t anything new since Blizzard has been moving away from its forums to other platforms since MoP at WoW, back then it was Twitter and Facebook.

As far as I remember, originally there was only Takedowns and Deaths score.
Later they split the takedowns into kills and assists, which I think is useless, as in HotS it doesn’t matter who did the kill…

I am all for for devs to merge kills and assists back into takedowns.

Kills can let people know who is actually finishing heroes off and assists can tell you if someone is actually participating in takedowns or not. Nobody can look at every section of the map at once so having stats to reference is good. Example, lets say your team has 15 kills. You’re playing as Morales and the main people you’re healing have a combination of kills and assists that add up to 15 (aka they participate in every kill). You have 0 kills and only 5 assists. That could mean you aren’t doing everything you can do in fights (like hitting people with grenades or AAing them when they dive). Even if you’re winning, in games against more skilled enemies, the lack of participation on your end may cost fights and eventually, games.

You can further divide that kind of thing into other stats like structure damage, hero damage, etc and use it to gauge general effectiveness.

But why do you need that information? What purpose does it serve other than pointing fingers?

information lets you assess whether you or your teammates are being as effective as they can be or if they’re playing properly at all. HOTS is a team game but because we cannot read each others’ minds, there is always going to be a need for people to shotcall in some shape or form to make sure people are on the same page. Having as much relevant information as possible means decision have the potential to be as well informed as possible.

I would like to see more stats, like dmg taken (I really miss it), CC time, cleanses, setups you created… However, I also think stats should be visible only after the game ends!

As far as I know, you get the assist if you hit the hero once or are in a range of the kill. So it doesnt matter, does it?

Also, if the team has 20 kills and you have 19 takedowns (kills + assists) that means you were in almost every fight.
If you have 4 takedowns, that means you are not participating.

There is no difference, now you see 14 kills and 5 assists, it means that the hero got the last hit. that doesn’t mean he participated a lot, only that he gave the last hit…

It would be better just kick potatoes…

i’m still annoyed about why the hell did they remove that… they didn’t even say anything about why they removed it whatsoever comon that’s just ridiculous damage taken is really needed for the tanks why remove something that important? jeeeeez

Can we stop coddling people? Rather see players get better instead of protected.

I think we should remove the scoreboard completely! Or have it use qualifiers, like highest, high, average, low lowest for stats. This should help the snowflakes in this game.

Pretty certain this is meant to be ironic, but still:
It wouldn’t help.
A) As said above, players would just find other metrics to flame.
B) Overwatch has this. You cannot see your team’s stats, not even after the game ended; only your own. However, you can see at any moment whether you got best, second best, third best or else in a given category (indicated by gold / silver / bronze / no medals next to your value). Guess what, people use it to flame. Heal got gold damage? Flames the dps players.

So yes, flamers gonna flame.
