Everyone will be disappointed to hear I can’t take any merit for the closure. No posts weren’t deleted, just hidden and you can still access the topic to see what was written. If anything was inappropriate, it was just a copy paste of someone else’s words.
You’re taking this way too personally. I can assure you most of us are not sitting on our end of the screen relieved that you got some sort of “punishment”.
What I believe is the goal here is to make this forum a place where people can share things about the game free from constant criticism from others. Keyword being constant, or if you need it said another way… unnecessary criticism.
The reason I avoided it. I’m not a fan of venting and scapegoating and a whole megathread for exactly that was just not my tea. But I respected it and saw usefulness in it.
Sadly, a lot of purposefully longlasting threads end up being deleted/locked/unlisted. Because mods only see that those by their nature cause unrest (and some just gets massflagged by troll alts out of spite).
The firstmega thread (can’t even recall what it was about), Gishki’s marvelous lvl100, now the SaltMines (my first comic collection thread) and pretty confident there were others too but cannot recall.
Someone (be regular, secretly-regular or just some fresh troll) sooner or latter will ruin long active threads, because those generate the most flag-spikes and tension.
All we can do is to create a new version of these.
The reason for the removal is because seeing the popularity of the concept, Blizzard is creating a fresh version of that map, now called Salt Mines.
Every few minutes, the mines will spawn 60 small minions, half of them angry with lots of damage, half of them disappointed with lots of health, they reflect half of the damage back (lore: toxicity), but you can heal them and then reflect that back in a small area (lore: spread the love). Once defeated, they drop a sack of salt.
Once the minions are done, a salt boss will spawn, that upon defeat, drops many little crates.
Then you can use all this salt to… oh, but that would be too much spoilers.
There were a couple of CS staff who posted years ago, but they stopped posting right after the notice that Hots was entering full maintenance mode. I’m not privy to internal information to confirm your claims, but I suspect you’re not either and are just sowing discord, which is unfortunate.
What do you mean by that? Other mega threads remain, I’m not going to list them as I don’t want to make it easier for trolls to spoil those threads too.
I agree with you, I said as much to Grim and Blast, who were blaming themselves specifically for its deletion. You can argue that the nature of The Salt Mines might encourage people to squabble and, in so, cause the deletion of the thread. I can’t see, though, how that reasoning can be applied to a very simple, and neutral thread like “The Level 100 Club.”
There are some bad actors here who are simply vandals, as they have a grudge or some axe to grind. The mods could also simply delete offending posts, rather than the whole thread.
As I said somewhere above, there is plenty enough blame to go around, and it’s not the fault of one individual’s actions.
Fair enough, my sincere apologies Zena, I’ll amend my post. There are a few alts floating around, and I seriously can’t keep track anymore, as I’m old.
However, you didn’t share your source for your CS claims.
