Hello, when I start the application I get a small window with that message. It stays on forever, the application just wont load.
After waiting, if I press “cancel”, the window closes but Battlenet thinks the game is running normally, it won’t let me relaunch it, and I’m forced to close the Hots process from the task manager. When I do this it closes but the following message spawns in my screen “An error occurred while starting Heroes of the Storm. (error 2: 1) ".
I have used the repair tool, it has not helped. Also reinstalled the game, identical result.
It has been happening to me for about 4 days, before that it worked normally.

I’ve been getting the same thing for a couple of weeks now. I always have to terminate Heroes on task manager, as it always gets stuck the first time around. Then it works on a random future attempt.
After 14 days no answer. Thanks mods and Blizzard’s blues for this overwhelming help. What would we do without you.

The issue you’re describing likely means that there’s a problem connecting to the Heroes of the Storm servers, so it can’t download the small amount of data it needs before starting up the game.
One way to work around this would be to connect through an alternate network like a mobile hotspot, or use a VPN, to allow the game data to download and then once you’re in-game you could switch back to your normal internet connection.
