Place for Tassadar feedbacks by players

I make this post for collecting info about Tassadar’s rework. Please, if you have anything to say about him, I would like to read it.

It will help me a lot. Write anything useful.

As Tracer Main, I understand your pain. Unfortunately he will no longer have synergy with Tracer by removing his plasma shield, it’s really sad.

It’s ok, he’ll still heal you… with PAIN!

He might not be a support anymore, but definitely feels like a pretty good ranged assassin.

I like him but something feels off.

He lacks burst damage for an assassin. The only real burst he gets is the 16 (I think) that gives % damage on first hero hit. His utility feels good though. The wall and slows allow him to bully teams that are not mobile enough to run away.

He also feels really easy to dive. The long wall CD almost needs to be saved for an escape. Mobile divers wont have much trouble dealing with Tass. I wonder if he needs a health buff or better CDs (or CDR) for more ability usage.

The cast time on shock ray feels a bit clunky too. I’m not sure why but for some reason psi-storm’s CD feels long for not being very strong. I was expecting his wave clear to feel better than it does too.

The new black hole is cool. I like that it has displacement and a stun. This sounds mostly negative but the rework has promise. I need to play around with more build options to see.

I tried him, his Q is quite bursty.

he is a bit overtuned, in my opinion, still waiting after hsi release when devs get their data

This is what PTR is for, they can nerf him so when he releases he wont be that OP

Archon form negates his Khaydarin Amulet talent. Archon has its own basic attack which overrules the effects of his Resonance Beam quest, so while you gain the effects of Archon you lose the effects of your completed quest.

For as long as Archon lasts Khaydarin Amulet literally does nothing at all, and with the lv20 Twilight Archon upgrade that can be quite a long time.

A heroic ability that completely negates one of your talents, least of all a completed quest, is not good design. Khaydarin Amulet should add some additional effect to Archon. Either that or Archon’s attack should be replaced entirely with something else.

Don’t you do way more damage in Archon though? I don’t think this is an issue, and you can always not pick this talent when going Archon or just pick the other ult.

Like, you can go Q quest on Genji at 4 and Shingan at 13, if you took dragonblade you won’t be using those 2 talents at all, but it is completely fine for what the ultimate does. I think it’s fine for Tass as well.

i know but usally almost no one plays on ptr and they get low data

It’s a crucial basic attack talent. It seems pretty much mandatory if you want a Beam build.

I like Beam (Trait) Build and the Q build A LOT. W will be good for wave clear. He will NOT run out of mana I mean I played 5 games of AI (so grain of salt) and I went back for health, never mana. I miss shields, but damn I do love the damage !!!

In typical Blizzard fashion I think he’s over tuned so good news Dr Logan your hero is now OP, bad news is you will not get to play him outside of QM
till at least 2 or 3 nerfs because he’s going to get hit with the ban hammer as soon as he’s released…

I think walls are going to be a Trolls dream, the good thing is its on a 20 sec CD so there is that.

Isn’t Black Hole a lot better than Archon, especially for AA build?

I don’t find its interaction with Archon to be problematic. The AA recharges really fast and there is a talent to give you max charge.

I like the AA trait build a lot too. It doesn’t feel too strong either. Shock ray is decent but the only problem is the cast time feels a bit clunky. W gets left out of most ray builds simply because buffing the ray gets more team fight value. The old E at 13 is pretty damn good for a ranged poke build.

Overall I’m really liking the potential in this rework. I disagree with calling him over tuned. At least for now.

Either ult is fine with AA build. The 20 black hole makes the AA build even better but you would have to pass on the wall upgrade. Black hole is just a strong AoE with synergy for shock ray. Archon is really strong and can be taken if that’s your preference.

He’s going to take some adjusting to learn again. In his previous iteration, having the shield and lifeleach meant he could hang back and gradually heal himself back up, and his void escape was great for getting out of a bind; without having any of those things from the onset, he can feel a lot more vulnerable early on.

His psistorm numbers aren’t the raw fantasy people would want from the “High Templar” and a good chunk of the effects of psi actually step from triggering multiple storms off of the other effects, so a “psi-storm” build won’t feel as good as people may want, esp if they just try to take all the talents for it from the onset.

His Ray (new Q) almost seems like it’d be like the Volskya mech, but it is different enough from that that you wouldn’t really want it to be the mental reference for how one aims and times the ability.

  • His ability to shield others is gone; at most he has self-shield.
  • Psi-storm isn’t quite the solo wave clear ability, and a good chunk of his debuffing utility stems from comboing psi with his other abilities
  • Q build kinda ‘feels’ the best, but its also the most mana intensive, so he may get regulated to tickle beam builds.
  • The charge-retention on his auto attack does feel better for repositioning while retaining the max effects of his attack, so that’s def a better take imo.
  • Baseline Wall does have some implications for early combos or saves, but it does take some adjustment for the longer cooldown
  • Archon does debuff spell armor now, so an Archon + Psi focus does allow tass to lower both types of armor pushing him toward more of a utility damager rather than an outright assassin.
  • Number wise, he feels closer to a specialist, but he lacks an early escape mechanism, and it does take two spell casts to clear waves, so that can seem clunky for people expecting just psi to clear.

So kinda tl;dr, he’s not quite the assassin monster (imo) people might expect from a ‘mage’, due to a lack of outright burst compared to ming, jaina, etc. If anything, he’s almost more like a non-healing tyrande in that he can bolster ally heroes while still being fairly aggressive, and his spells can enable allies more than they wombo out themselves.

I think he has a good feel on utility, but I he might be a bit hard to slot into a direct ‘role’ in team picks simple because he doesn’t seem like he hits as hard a mage, split as well as a specialist, or bring shields anymore.

Ironically, he’s the sort of hero that would feel great to play alongside old tassadar. So I guess people can try some Together We are Strong Zarya and just blast stuff for days.

Psionic storm feels like it lacks build options. In most cases you take those talents to bolster the AA build. I wish he got a really good synergy talent for shock ray. Something like firing a shock ray over a psionic storm causes it to explode or something.

He feels like a sustain damage dealer. He lacks the raw burst until 16 where he can hit with % based damage from range. I guess Archon does some serious damage before then but that is an ultimate.

He’s still got some nice utility. He can soak, siege, and provide vision. His big plus is the slows but those are tied to his AA build. The problem is he lacks any kind of escape. Teams will need to peel for him hard.

Li-Ming’s archon says hello.
