Odd cpu core usage mismatch

The game runs fine, however it’s doing something odd to my machine that I’ve never seen before. I have an Intel I7-8700, which is a 6 core CPU. When I run the game, overall CPU usage is nominal, except for the 6th core. While the rest of the cores are at roughly 20%, core #6 is always in the 80%-90% range. I pulled the SSD, inserted and formatted another, installed Windows 10 fresh and Heroes. Same deal. The rest of my machine is well over the recommended specs for the game and other games don’t present this behavior. I wish I could post a screen grab that would clearly illustrate this curiosity.

Yeah i have kinda the same issue with my I7 7700K. One or two cores sometimes jump up to 90%+ and that results in Frame Stutter down to below 30FPS. It’s random and it happens in Try Mode too. I tried many thinks to improve performace but nothing helps. I only have this problem since the last 2 or 3 Patches. I hope they can fix it.

That is the SC2 engine showing its age.
There is nothing wrong with your computer, it is just that the game only uses 1 core (or two threads if hots feels brave).

On my Ryzen 1700X, it looks really poor. 7 to 12% CPU useage and the GPU at half clock pushing 50 to 75FPS.
Left side, the graph with lots of green, that is the core pushing Hots, the rest is doing nothing (or barely anything).
On the right are performance metrics of heroes, the lowest line is 5%, below is RAM. The blue one is input & output to network and USB devices.

Mine’s doing the same thing but with CPU #2
8700k
fresh win 10 install
evo 970 1tb

Closing this thread as the last post was from 7 months ago. As mentioned by MazeFrame, the game is mainly going to use a single core. What you’re seeing is going to be normal. If you’re having performance issues we can look into that but you’ll need to make your own thread describing the problem.
