My lag spikes are only on THIS ACCOUNT?

EDIT
I did a new test after doing all i could, I logged into 2 other accounts to play games. i had no issues… no lag spikes NOTHING!
back to this Torment account, and its doing it all the time. only at critical moments.
so this is blizzard account dependent? how is this possible? did this account get some black mark?

Thanks for help.

What is your preferred server in the settings? That is account specific.

it is also set to western.
does anything in that mtr make sense?
any of that IP stuff shouldnt be there?

It is very curious you are connecting to US West through Nigerian and Lithuanian hops. You have 2700+ ping in one of your hops. You do live in the US? Just trying to troubleshoot until a blue poster can help.

hah no… im in California.
maybe something fishy on the PC?
where does it show that stuff you mention in my MTR?

By using the tracert tool in command line and whois lookup. I hope employees could have insight into why some of your pings are so high if it’s not an issue with your internet provider.

But your connection travels to the Blizzard server through an unusual path compared to other US WinMTR’s on the forum.

Is it possible a proxy is open or do you have proxy/VPN software?

Hey Torment,

I don’t see anything particularly concerning in your WinMTR. The 2726ms latency spike on the sbcglobal node isn’t an issue since that spike doesn’t continue throughout the remainder of the test. Overall it looks fine.

Since this is only happening on one account I’d recommend a few things:

  1. Go into your Documents folder and delete the Heroes of the Storm folder (make sure to back up any replays that you may want to keep)

  2. Delete the Blizzard cache folder

Go ahead and restart the game and test it again after doing those.

no VPN and nothing should be open.
stopped all services non-microsoft.
again, after more runs performed on all accounts I found that its happening to them all, and much less so in the mornings.
I did as you said, deleted the Blizzard folder. I ran more matchs, I did CTRL+ALT+F, and ive always had a consistant 59-60 fps,
(not counting the 0 during the freeze spike)
after folder deleted I have a FPS that sits in the 100s now.
(same freeze spikes tho)
is there more I can run? or do?

Hey again Torment,

Sorry for the late reply. If it’s happening to all accounts now, and less in the morning, this indicates a connection issue and most likely an issue with your internet provider. If it’s less in the mornings that would be when less people are using the internet in your area or on your provider, so it sounds like there might be a case of congestion between your ISP and the game server.

You could try using a VPN or a different connection (like a hotspot if you have one). Either of those should work around the problem until it clears up.

Not sure if this will be any help.
I was having similar issues with random FPS drops. Usually around 3x per match.
I asked about VPNs and then decided to just give it a go.
After maybe 10 matches, 5 had no issues what so ever, and 5 had one (smaller than usual) FPS drop.
This was at the cost of a pretty small ping increase (about 5) so I’ll keep using it for now.
I ran the VPN in the same country I’m playing from (New Zealand), and the country I guess the server is (Australia), no significant difference using either.
I’m guessing it has something to do with increased load on the ISP through NZs corona lockdown, as my issue started around the same time.

I think bojang an jambrix are right. the patterns seem to follow the covid lockdown, cause for 5 years before lock down i never had the issue.
along with the mornings its not there and as the day comes they pick up.
thanks for all the help, I did get some other benefits from all this.
Thanks again.
