Idealism. You forget Cho’Gall was conceptualized back in the glory days of HotS (I use the term glory loosely) where the dev team had a much more substantial resources and manpower.
Right now asking for another rework for a hero who’s already been accepted and needing to create 5 new skins, not to mention more if future Protoss heroes should be added, is just a terrible idea and a waste of development time. There are other heroes more in need of a rework. Tassadar is fine. Support Tassadar may be gone but we can’t have everything
I was thinking that’s saved for duo heroes in the future. The Nexus originals Verrick and Dahlia(Delia?Dalia?) Comes to mind for me. Something like Xayah and Rakan having interactions between 2 heroes but unlike Cho and Gall, they don’t really need to be picked together to be viable.
I tried to think of situations where attack speed would benefit all the heroes you mentioned and I admit the synergy is there but how in the world can Johanna benefit from that talent a great deal?
I doubt it will ever happen
Current Tassadar is quite good and will be missed too if he just went away
I think you’re all being just a bit too negative about this whole thing
If someone told you that Cho’gall would be a hero played by two people with a shared lifebar where only one player controlled most of the movement before he actually came out I see you reacting in a similar way saying it’s too much work and too different from a gameplay standpoint
You would also say it’s hard to balance too
Same for Deathwing
If someone told you that Deathwing would be permanently unstoppable but could not benefit from allied abilities to balance this out I see many of you saying that this too is too different and hard to balance around
Storm tier talents are only at level twenty and are meant to be powerful
Archons are also easily countered by anything that does bonus damage to shields
Anyone who has played StarCraft competitively knows this
Come on this is a legitimately cool concept for Archon worth having in the nexus
Though I recall seeing posts about how Gall’s Dread Orb stun is overpowered
Deathwing OP threads were also quite common when he came out
Exactly how is my suggestion objectively bad?
Archon functioning how it does in actual StarCraft in Heroes of the Storm makes for a whole lot more sense than the underwhelming nonsense that ability currently is
Tassadar essentially has a Super Saiyan button
No Protoss have been able to become Archons by themselves
I also see complains about other Heroes being op, it’s not about their design, it’s about their balance.
Lvl 20’s are hard to get in a lot of games.
It works only with an extremely small portion of Heroes.
Yet it requires a ton of work to make every Archon different on every skin ever.
So insane amount of work for an insanely rare scenario.
That’s why.
And ppl already explained this before me, but you just ignore it.
There are a ton of good Viking skin ideas. Pretty sure the creative team did come up with some of their own or could do.
But they said in an AMA that it’s rare because they need to make “3 skins” for 1 Hero and that’s not worth it usually. That’s why you won’t see talents that create the same requirement and pressure.
I did post TLV skin suggestions.
I even wrote them an email back in the days.
And I read some not that recently.
Plus there are the TLV seasonal portraits.
And you can even google some modeled concepts…
Are you a troll? Non-native? Kid? Anything that can explains your lazy stubborness and ignorance?
Ming’s Archon is just the same as the original skin with an easily edittable “filter”.
They just recolour her and there is a centre object, and a pattern that circles.
It doesn’t require extra modelling work. They basically just switch 3 files and it’s done.
Your Archon idea requires more.
But even if not, congrat, you “rebute” one of the arguments why it won’t happen.
I think they should take parts of his old kit that were stripped out/radically changed, and make a new hero with them.
Make it Xel’naga who used Tassadar’s image.
Make it a Sentry.
IDGAF.
But keeping messing around with a character switching roles isn’t helpful. Especially when there is as close as is possible to a 100% chance Tassadar will never change roles again.
The issue is that the talent wouldn’t be helpful in a majority of games.
In order to justify it’s existence it would not be able to function as with another protoss.
At which point you lose all the flavor you had in it.
Also throwing in some random “in WoL beta Archon’s involved 3 High Templar channeling an archon” which doesn’t matter, but is interesting.
Also need to consider that in Starcraft 1, dark templar don’t fuse with high templar. They each fuse with each other. And Dark Templar exist. Although Tassadar did indeed channel the Void, so he could become a Dark Archon with Zeratul. I guess with Artanis also?
Anyhow, going off of lore makes abilities cool. But when you needlessly make it bad for gameplay to stick closer to lore you’re going in the wrong direction.
“Yeah, Tassadar, he basically lets his team turn one of their other heroes into a different hero at level 20”.
I will note, I don’t think it would be possible/make mechanical sense in game, but I would love to see an archon hero designed akin to Cho’gall, with two players controlling it.
It just takes some balancing and letting people get used to the idea
I would change this to “Yeah, Tassadar, he basically fuses with another hero on his team to become a different hero entirely”
Alexstrasza already becomes a different hero with her trait and Ragnaros does too so I think Tassadar getting Archon and Dark Archon at twenty can be really cool
Same here man
Fun and cool factor should be above everything else in my book
If people just want a competitive game there are others
Heroes of the Storm is one of the only places where you see Blizzard characters going at it
Yes, but Alexstrasza’s change is PART OF HER KIT.
Guess what, so is Ragnaros!
In this case, you’re literally taking a hero who isn’t Tassadar, and changing their entire kit and playstyle.
It would be like if Varian could give an ally access to any of his passive bonuses, except on steroids.
I think if you really want an archon like this, you would have to do something like:
“Tassadar summons void energy to fuse with his Psionic energy in order to enable him to become a one person archon” with a whole new kit.
That’s the best way, IMO, to make a “proper archon” exist.
basically justifiy it enough that it kinda works in lore in a manner which is truly hero changing.
a game being competitive, i.e. there being balance is part of what makes and keeps a game fun. doh
Yes, as a damage dealing Overmind killing high templar. Facepalm
I loved tassadar as support, and i’ve barely played him as an assassin. But Assassin does fit his actions better imo.
