I was thinking about a protoss themed map. Even have minion and merc camp ideas.
Melee minions would be Zealot variants, ranged would be Adept variants, and command High Templar. Siege minions could be Reavers.
Siege Camps could be Dark Archons (capture enemy minions) or Disruptors, and elite camps would be Immortals and Arbiter/Oracle?
As for Boss? One of the Purifiers? Or even a Twilight Archon?
Protoss Photon cannons would be the forts, and monolith turrets.
Theme would be around a Xel’naga Temple with Khalai warriors against Tal’darim fighters. Objective could be to power the Temples to summon a shockwave into the opposing base, forcing a one-wave disadvantage.
Thoughts/opinions?
I think if you’re going to make a protoss themed map, Rak’shir is the obvious choice. It’s already similar to a HotS map, and it could have interesting gameplay beyond the typical “break towers, do objective to break more towers.”
I actually did consider that, but I figured the ritual may be a bit similar to the Battlefield of Eternity and Hanamura Temple…
Like two Tal’darim Ascendants (or one against a Khalai equivalent) pushing against each other and heroes must fight around them to help push one to the opposing side? Summoning a boss pusher or causing terrible, terrible damage? Is that what you’re thinking too?
I was thinking the players would be the combatants. Every once in a while a duel starts in the middle of the map, and a player from each side takes their place in the center, using their allies to empower them and push the other team.
Winner gets to keep the power boost for a bit, while the losing team has to defend against it while short a fighter.
Sounds like a mechanic that is weak in the early game but stronger in late game (longer deathtimers). However, I do wonder how such randomization would be done…
As a protoss player, Tassadar, Artanis, and Probius main, I’d like this very much. Or some variation of it. My only request or hope would be that it’s jungle themed. Set on Aiur perhaps.
Thats actually a very good idea on paper, problem is it aggressively supports certain heroes then you got ones like Abathur putting a hat in the duel room, then you got the horrendous matchmaking basially putting a low hp/caster team again illidan and tracer and its 1 sided the whole game.

Only if the duel lets you fight like you normally would, which it shouldn’t since Rak’shir is about shoving your opponent in a hole.
Instead of a normal fight, the duel turns all your abilities into shoves that push the enemy towards the pit based on the damage it would have done. Allies reduce you cooldowns and increase the amount you can shove.
Now that makes more sense, though it also brings up the ‘need more pinpoint details’ thing as it can just remove a hero from the fight so to speak, another thing i forgot to add to my original comment was a counterbalance idea in which after being in a duel that hero is banned from the next one-two duels before being able to jump in again.
Protoss are my favorite race to play in Starcraft 2. I’d love to have a Protoss focused map! Templar vs Tal’darim would be good in my opinion.
As for boss? I’d say Colossus.
