As of the most recent patch when I open the game it will often tell me I have a client mismatch and need to update, but there is no update. Check for updates and scan and repair find nothing. Just have to reopen it a few times until eventually it decides that I do in fact have the right version and loads normally.
Yep, same same. Client Mismatch.
NVM, closed and reopened launcher and it worked.
This is now happening to me consistently even when I restart. I have manually checked for updates as well as running a âscan and repairâ to no avail.
Same issue here. Scan and repair doesnât work. Restarting client doesnât work.
Hey there,
Client mismatch means the client is not properly getting an update it needs or the update date is not being properly applied. Restarting and it working for that specific session indicates the data is there, just not being applied properly or saved. So you have to do it each time.
This indicates an issue between the Blizzard Desktop Application and the Game Client. Either corruption or interference from something on the system.
Try the following and see if it helps:
First, temporarily disable/end process on any tasks not needed for the function of windows or to specifically play the game. Then:
- Click Options (gear symbol next to the install/update/play button)
- Click Show in Explorer. (leave this window open while you perform step three.)
- Go back to Options and select Uninstall and go through the process to remove the core files and association to the desktop application. (Skip to step for if unable to perform this uninstall)
- Check the opened file explorer window to see if the game folder was deleted when the game was uninstalled. If it was not, delete the folder manually.
- Leave the explorer window open but exit the Battle.net Desktop Application.
- In File Explorer, navigate to the folder where the desktop application would normally be installed. Delete that folder if it exists (usually program files x86)
- Type the following into the address bar (not the search bar): %APPDATA% and press enter.
- Delete the Bnet and blizzard folders inside the appdata folder if they exist.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 with %PROGRAMDATA% %LOCALAPPDATA% and %TEMP%
- Empty the recycle bin.
- Now reinstall the app to the C: Drive.
- Reinstall the game client.
I followed your 12-step process and was able to reconnect to the game (finally) but now Iâm getting the âPlease Waitâ error again, which had actually stopped while I was getting the client mismatch. Nothing has changed on my end (computer the same, router the same, virus prot/firewall the same.) Whatever was in that last patch (2/1/22) is the issue.
Getting the same issue, just started popping up recently.
Something else is definitely going on here that isnât game-file related. Itâs been intermittent over the last two-ish weeks. Today I played at 7:10 local time, then came back at 7:40 and it wasnât going. I changed my DNS off of Google DNS (which I had turned on because of another HOTS âserver not foundâ issue) and didnât have the version mismatch at 7:46. No files were patched or changed, just DNS.
I closed all of blizzardâs appâs. Did the %appdata%, %localappdata%, %programdata% deletes and it did actually help me⌠That and I removed citrix since I use it for some work days. Solved all my problems kek.
another epic fail by battlenet/blizz, I got dcâd(my fiber internet is fine)⌠couldnât get back in game because Iâm perma stuck on mismatch.
Above isnât fixing my issue either.
changed DNS and now mine is fine too ⌠god this company sucks
Same issue here. Clean install of Windows to boot. Its completely hit or miss, I might get the error 4-5x in a row then itâll suddenly work. Sometimes doing the Scan and Repair makes it work even though it says it made no changes. I have followed the above suggestions and the problem is NOT solved. At this point I am unable to play. Multiple restarts today and it simply will not let me in.
This isnât some issue on our end because its happening to many people and it began happening after the update. Just like the update that caused everyone to have to download a tiny update every single time they try to play, which Blizz said theyâd fix but still isnt fixed.
Whatever you guys are putting in your updates is causing this. it canât be every single persons individual problem when it is clearly linked to the patch that started the update issues.
This shouldnât be happening, especially not on a game made by a billion dollar company. Do better Blizzard. Indie game companies donât even have this kind of ridiculous issue no matter how minor this may be, having to constantly exit and restart and keep trying for 30 minutes every day, is nonsensical and warrants a fix from Blizzard, since you know, you caused it.
This happens to me frequently since the last patch, along with the 137mb patch. I also occasionally get Unmet Requirements, Game Mode is Currently Unavailable after loading and have to reload to clear that one too. That has been happening as long as the 137mb patch has been happening, since at least November. Basically, now the game loads correctly for me 1/2 to 1/3 of the time I load it, and runs fine after I open in and apply the mini patch 2-3 times.
So hereâs a quick fix for people. When you get the Version Mismatch error from the game and it boots you out to the login screen, switch regions. I switch from US to EU. Once the login pops up for EU, switch back to US. Now login and it should work just fine.
Now, why this works without restarting the game or going through that long process from the blue post makes it seem like itâs something on Blizzardâs end. I didnât change files, delete anything, move anything. I switched regions and magically it works again. Hope this information helps others and possibly helps Blizzard get to the bottom of this issue.
Having the exact same issue.
Have to retry and open the game a few times until it works.
This is obviously a bug and not an user issue.
I have done this as well, and it is not letting me log in period. One time it will say âclient Mismatchâ, or it will says, "oops, appears something is broken. Give it another shot.
I am having the same issue, alternating Mismatch or please wait for the past few weeks. Save us bill gates!
It didnât fix my issue with Client Mismatch either and I am also getting the phantom patch along with it.
Iâm still getting an update patch every single session, this is an issue that has persisted for two months now. I understand youâre all doing your best, but at least for me, the fixes provided in this thread are not solving the issue(s).
*Edit: This is how I fixed the issues with Client Mismatch. I first followed all the above steps, uninstalling, rebooting, patching, still kept getting the Client Mismatch error.
What did resolve the Client Mismatch error for me was changing the the region on the B.net Launcher from Americas to Asia, the game started and no Client error. I exited out, changed back to Americas and the game worked.
As of 1-2 wks ago, every time I try to launch the game I get a âversion mismatchâ. While I have seen this sporadically over the years this is literally every time I open the game now. All it takes is End Taskâing everything Battle.net, but this is getting tiresome. Any thoughts?
