Hogger goes into Hog Wild, gets about 2 spins in when a Valeera stops him cold in his tracks. Recap log shows at 0.9 seconds Valeera did an attack that has no icon or damage associated with it.
Is this a hack?

Is this a hack?
No thatâs a bug.
To Bug Report with you.
In this game, chances are good that if someone is doing something that shouldnât be mechanically possible, itâs just a bug, not a hack. Hacking is generally pretty difficult in games like this.
LOL. thatâs funnyâŚ
whats funny? maximus is right, you cant hack in hots, there were some map reveals 5 years ago and even those are long patched
all the âhacksâ online are just useless keyloggers that do nothing, the game would desync you instantly if you change your health values or damage
only bronzes who dont understand how things work in the game accuse others of hacking, as far as ive seen
False. The only hack thatâs not possible is map hacking.
thats the only hack that has been ever patched for hots, and it was 2015
if you have evidence of any other hacks, feel free to provide the proof, but i already know you cant
because the game desyncs anyone trying to change health values, damage values and so on
Im in doubt if its realy impossible. But the impact of these might still be less extreme.
Note that the game still has to know certain information to display animations. And those can be calculatd backward to get an idea of origin, which can still be information.
And since the game does backtrack everything that happened upon rejoining, i wouldnt be surprised if all information was given to you anyway. Which makes those map reveals technicaly work.
The biggest advantage however is, because this is a low profile game, its unlikely that this gets targeted, mainly because it uses an engine of a more popular game, where people would be more likely to use it anyway. This in turn makes the chance higher that such exploits get fixed.
Keep in mind that as long as something is in memory, something is able to read it. Even if the engine forces protections upon it, the host machine can still have a layer in it that prevents full protection.
But yes, most complaints are about lack of knowledge, players can be extremely predictable and therefor people are able to snipe some others at strange locations.
Closest thing we had to hacking was the map hack exploit 5 years ago and even that got fixed so hard to believe he was hacking.
Just a bug, one of things blizz doing well is not hacked in SC2 and Hots
Thatâs a very narrow definition of hacks.
Thereâs at least 2 bot hacks running in the wild right now.
Proof?
Canât say Iâve ever seen anything that would suggest it.
Having a bot that automates some actions isnt directly a hack. Its a bot.
Sure, its still not allowed, but a lot less extreme as the bot does not gain any extra information compared to humans. And most bots are there to just level up (gather xp), or troll. The 2nd one being a major issue, although its still limited because it gets such a negative winrate, its very likely easy to detect.
A hack does get information that you normaly should not be able to get. Or perform actions humans cant perform. A bot generaly tries to mimic a human to a certain degree, but acts fully automated (it behaves very predictable).
not to mention people throw the bot-cusation towards anyone who mindlessly lanes and plays badly even if that person has nothing to do with botting
its especially common among bronze, i dont know the posters rank but i could swear its bronze because botting accusations die out even after silver, also botting in human games would be dumb as hell not to mention insanely hard
if you lose in human matches you get much less exp and gold and are exposed to reports, may as well do it in AI
if the company cant make a decent ai bot, why would some group of humans make a hots bot for free?
if they investigated all the bronze bot-cusations, i will bet 99 . 999% of them are normal human players who were in control of the hero at all times, they just chose to play very badly like only laning 20 minutes without responding to anyone, which is why they are bronze 5
No, if you lose a PvP match, you get the same xp as winning vs AI. If you win, you get bonus xp however. In vs AI however, if you lose you barely get any xp.
With it, as PvP rounds generaly last longer, you get even more xp since xp values rise the longer the game lasts.
And its logical its made this way, since you dont want to punish people for playing PvP. However, since losing still grants a lot of xp, its the prefered mode for botters to use compared to vs AI, as it realy doesnt matter. And as vs AI also has an xp cap, why bother with vs AI?
Because players are generaly not the same as a company. The company can aim for profit, and consider making a more complex bot too expensive, while those players can do it because its a hobby of them anyway.
This is the same reason why a game with community content generaly does much better, the community keeps the game alive with that content. The devs only had to invest time once to make that content usable. And can in some cases relatively easily buy the content from the creator, to put it as default content in the game.
i know every single big hack forum and there is no market for any hots exploits, bots or hacks
there isnt a single bot for hots, if you find one its just a keylogger
which isnt surprising when this game has hundreds of players online at night or less, and is dead in some regions like australia or brazil
However, since losing still grants a lot of xp, its the prefered mode for botters
a botter in pvp modes would be reported so many times in such a short time period, combined with their 20% win rate, they would be banned within days
losing pvp games is also an awful way to level up a character, 1 hour mindless AI farms as a bush sitter give you 1,6 million exp, no need to even bot, sit in the bush and alt+tab to youtube, while the 4 others extend the game to 60 minutes

I got called a bot so many times while playing Murky I give that word almost as much weight as âl2pâ.
Even while I did nothing out of the ordinary except getting bribe stacks early game in solo lane. I went to all objectives, did camps and played normally. Only at the end of the game I tell them âgg botsâ
Meaningless puff word used by players who donât know what laning is or just donât like a heroâs playstyle. Or if you donât like to talk to teammates: âbot.â
I also see Raynorâs accused of botting all the time, when itâs my friend who is playing next to me and I know itâs a human, and some heros who need to stack like Butcher, though he is rarely played.
Technically, HotS runs on the SC2 engine and the 2 kinds of hacks that are possible there are maphacks and micro hacks. Micro hacks being a thing, itâs theoretically possible to create an aimbot for your skill shots or auto-dodger or something.
hots did have the same fog of war removal hack / map hack in 2015 as starcraft 2 but i already linked it and itâs patched 5 years ago
2016 - scripter
2018 - fog of war
2020 - fog of war
