IGN: "HOTS is far from dead"

Just discovered this article on IGN, published on April 14th. (It won’t let me post the link. Just Google it. I found it by searching for Heroes of the Storm for the past 7 days.)

In summary, the author says that despite cutting the esports matches and reassigning a bunch of developers, HOTS continues to provide new content and provide a great experience.

No doubt, a bunch of people may disagree with his opinion, but I just wanted to share the link because it’s rare for HOTS to receive good press these days, especially from a high-profile source like IGN.

Perhaps we’ll get a bunch of people to try it out (or return) and stick around. One can hope.

it’s true. “ded gaem” is a meme for a reason. yeah we all wish we had some epic Heroes of the Dorm events to watch, but the game is still quite fun

I mean low population or not, I have tons of fun.

HotS has a smaller, but more passionate community.Honestly it could go for a long time this way.

Here is the article.

I don’t know if it’s a paid shill, but at least it’s written by someone who actually plays the game extensively, rather than a generic reviewer.

He has many good points but for example completely sidesteps queue times and player population discussions.

New content and great experience is true but that’s a stretch. The game is in decline and can always use more players. More players=better matches as more players are spread across ranks. Matchmaking system won’t have to work so hard to group fairer matches.

What?! No trolls responding to my post? Nobody saying, “Yeah, but here are the 27 reasons why HOTS is dead…”!!!

Unbelievable… But kind of cool.

Fun fact: literally all of HotS’ issues are due to a middling population. With more players, smurfs become less common and there are more players close to everyone’s skill level. The core gameplay of HotS is fantastic.

Poking around, I see HotS coming up in conversation a bit more often lately. It’s usually followed by “Isn’t that game dead?”, but that’s usually responded to with “No, not at all.” It really does seem to be going through a small resurgence. Hopefully it sticks.

The funniest part of that review was that the main conflictic of that game involves there is either or much land or much water. Clearly ING is part of team magma.

Which means they are still spending money to support this game.

You are right. Hots is far from dead.

Hots however has a 5,6000,0000 seconds queue time for hero league and 4,0000,0000 queue time for quick match. :man_shrugging:
