Try to go in take a few hits and out. Doesnt matter what roll you are. (Unless the dmg gets outhealed)
This will prevent the tank from dying if the boss hits his ability
Also when getting ganked the tank isnt the weakest member of your team. Best to have 3 heroes on 80% then the most important hero to stand his ground on 20% health. (Also have in note most healers have one form of aoe heal)
If you have no gank at all. You can now push with the boss instead having the tank to hearth
Yeah like for example, Whitemane is the worst healer to keep the person taking damage topped off while assisting to kill the boss. Every other healer has some way of out-of-combat healing Whitemane simply cannot do freely.
What if the tank just stays in front, no matter if you jump n to trade hits, but still he likes to stay up front and hes like " no no no greymane, let the boss hit me only, me me me only"
Also when the gank happens, get off the boss pit and engage the enemy team immediately if you want to fight over it. Unless you have heroes who are capable of zoning out the enemy team or heroics/junkrat mine that can be used to secure it, a lot of comps don’t so you need to get the drop on them and not the other way around. That’s what I find is most often the best.
If they gank early for some reason instead of waiting for it to be almost finished, back off entirely and then re-engage them when they’ve almost finished it. Unless you can just win the fight immediately by disengaging the boss and engaging them.
Most of the bosses don’t actually hit very hard with their basic attacks, it is usually their AoE stuns or poison attacks that cause real damage. Any decent tank should know how to avoid those, so it is fairly rare that I need someone to take damage for me when we are obviously bossing. I may want someone to take a few hits when we are doing something sneaky like 2-manning a boss with a bruiser/DPS pair while the other three cause a ruckus to distract them elsewhere.
I guess I could see it being more necessary with a lower HP tank like Anub’arak or ETC, though.
This is really good when you have an AoE healer like Lucio, Auriel… Everyone can take a bit of damage and then they just heal everyone. This is also true when you are taking camps with one of them. Please share the damage taken so they can just heal both of you back to 100% hp.
One thing that also makes me wanna cry is when we got take a boss and none of the tanks actually step up to take the hits from the boss and me, the greymane, take all the hits from it trying to go melee to speed up the process.
When I play Li-Ming, I always get Diamond Skin at 16, and when we do boss, I teleport in the middle to spend the shield so the tank can breathe a bit, or as Jaina, with Ice Barrier at 13, since I get shield from hitting chilled enemies, I use it the same way as with Li-Ming, my idea is, if you get a shield, at least use, don’t let it go to waste…
Thats a really nice thought.
Really helps the rest to be ready
I once died because I took all of the hits and full health junkrat was like “not my job” i ran up to him so he could take one but he went further back at the last moment
Mostly this and also I love to do early boss. But one needs to show his face to soak or to zone them.
If the whole team dissapears the enemy will just rush to your boss. Its a thing that happens trough all levels. But if one or 2 just are there they think we are doing bruiser camps
I don’t understand this behaviour either, but I’ve seen it at all skill levels. When I first joined the game and for about 3 years it never was an issue, now it seems you have to twist arms to get your team to push with a Boss.
Eh, it depends a bit on the boss and the timing. For example, the Alterac Pass boss isn’t all that strong for pushing with, but it makes a great distraction as the objective is coming up, so the enemy team has to decide whether to send someone to prevent their keep from losing the outer wall, or preventing us from taking the objective.
Sky Temple is another map where I don’t mind letting the boss do its own thing some times, as although it is fairly strong, so are the objectives. And fighting on the bridge of death is always scary, even with the boss.
On a map like TotSQ, yeah, push with that bad boy.
I should have clarified a bit more, I agree there are times to push with the boss and not. It’s just I’ve had so many CH games where it’s 22mins in and my team grabs the Boss, the enemy has no forts up, heroes dead, so once upon a time it would have been obvious to push with the boss core and win… No, I get people who ping madly to take top boss where the enemy has both towers up.
This almost never happened when I first started playing. I know I’m only in Plat/Diamond but it still is perplexing behaviour.
