That’s a lot of people grouping up to play the game in an organized way. Most teams have more than 5 players. Way more than I expected.
(Though I just realized, the “Fountain Snipers” team must be really sad right now.)

Are the games MMR completely seeded from Heroesprofile’s SL section?

Yes. One of the requirements for participation is to have the HP Uploader installed. They verify prior season’s stats from verified screen caps in game showing highest rank attained.
Do they get modified independently from SL? If not, how are teams able to climb up in division?
Is is possible for a team to be 3100 MMR, but Division D because they’re trolling too much?

I have no idea about that. I do know they require us to upload screenshots from past seasons. The NGS Discord is open to everyone, so I recommend asking there?
Every single famous player in this and every game is only a student. The teachers do not play ranked.
I guess that auto-bot only works with thread titles as I think there must be at least 100k of individual posts with those particular words.
This game doesn’t deserve death. I’m so happy people are hoping on a competitive team with a roster.

Its extra special for players who play other Blizzard games. Its one of a kind in that aspect. In my opinion, one of the best constructed moba games. It just fell from its glory because it was introduced late which caused it to have low player numbers after a while, and it got pretty much abandoned by the developers.
