Well, I don’t think that HotS should have items or stuff like that. A while ago I had suggested something that may add a bit of depth to the game as you are calling it:

This game isn’t easier than other MOBA’s in my opinion because the difficulty comes from playing versus other players. Having less complex mechanics doesn’t change the difficulty of the game - it just shifts the focus (where player skill makes some impact) on a different part of the game.

In LOL, you have a long laning phase where you fight for gold and the goal is to come out of the laning phase stronger than your lane opponent.
This part is completely different in HOTS - there isn’t a real laning phase so teams have to figure out how to get more exp than the enemy team. You can’t just be good at last hitting minions to gain an exp lead…

Personally i like the fact that we don’t have to last hit minions in HOTS and in my opinion that’s a good example of pointless complexity. It creates a different level of complexity. Also what is cool about HOTS --> If you want to last hit minions and you can play heroes that have quest-talents that require last hitting. If you want that extra complexity you can have it and if you are good at it you get the reward.

I have a lot of friends who play LOL and most of them seem to make fun of HOTS as a baby moba but then it’s so sad to see how they play LOL. They absolutely have no clue about team fights/team play - so why would they always want to spend so much time and effort into a laning phase just to have some players throw the match 1vs5 in the late game team?^^ It’s a complete one-shot fest anyway… I don’t really understand why my friends like this “unnecessary complexity” in LOL because clearly they are too bad at the game.

I absolutely can’t stand playing LOL but HOTS is really enjoyable.

I agree with this 100%. I hate last hitting. Once again people, I dont want to turn this game into LOL / DOTA.

How will this perception ever change unless something changes?

I dont see LOL as needlessly complex. DOTA 2 however I am in complete agreement. Once again I hate last hitting mechanics as well.

Well, i don’t care if this perception changes and it doesn’t need to change.
I think it’s not the game that needs a change - people should be a bit more open minded and come down from their high-horse. I am still the better gamer than all of my LOL friends who think HOTS is the baby moba and they know it too. Also the best LOL player among my friends is also my best HOTS buddy and he is very open minded and sees the complexity of HOTS pretty clear.
So basically the bad ones are the ones who say they play the more complex game? Ironic

How many players does a game needs to be alive?
Do you know how many players there are currently?
Why would you assume that a “change” will improve things? It could also just drive the remaining players away.
Everything dies eventually anyways - it just comes down to how fast…

A majority of people here remind me of the “Everything is fine” meme where everything is on fire. I wish I can link it but alas, trust level.

People know this game is not doing well, that nobody really plays it while the population is dwindling. And yet nobody wants to change anything, everything is fine, let the game die ect ect ect.

I am not sure why another layer of complexity scares some people. If everything in this game is fine, and it needs nothing, then why is nobody playing it? Why is this the least popular moba? There has to be reason why right? The logic is plain to see.

The willfully ignorant are hard to reason with. But I will try for an another hour or so, to keep me awake.

I don’t kno about that, considering like 95+% of the community is still struggling with the basic and easy mechanics we have now. (Soak the damn lane instead of brawling mid for no reason!)

Complexity does not equal depth. Chess only has 6 different pieces but the depth is boundless.

In saying that, some people simply just enjoy unnecessary complexity. The English language is a great example. It has rules (i before e except after c) and for no reason it has exceptions to those rules (height or weight).

Then there are straight up unnecessary complications. Why is a group of birds called a flock except for specific birds like a “murder” of crows?

If you have a vast knowledge of the English language you can demonstrate your prowess by articulating yourself in a way that few others can. For everyone else, English is just unnecessarily dumb.

That happens really often in ranked games I have noticed that too for example I had one game in battlefield of eternity where my team wouldn’t leave mid lane while enemy nazeebo kept soaking the bot lane we lost cause they got more exp then us.Even thou I tried to contest nazeebo as li ming but it was too late everyone likes aram mode from league of legends.
