High ping (200) only on Heroes of the Storm (Aus server)

Recently I have come across latency issues on hots and while even though my connection to the Aus server appears as 30ms when I launch once I am connected to a game it goes up to 200~ for the rest of the game which makes it near impossible to competitively play any hero. I ran a pathping as recommended on another post and the results show I am getting a bottleneck addresses that are used to hop.

I had to remove some dots from the addresses due to not being able to post links

what you have here is an issue between your ISP, which looks like it is “MyRepublic”, and “Equinix”. you would have to bring the problem to your ISP and explain to them the issue. perhaps they can do something to change the routing.

Damn, do you know if there is anyway I can block hopping to each of the bottle necked servers?

You could try a Gaming VPN. however, going this route means you will have to pay a fee for the VPN.

HoneyCentaur,

There currently are routing issues in the AU impacting all games. Blizzard are aware of this and are looking into it.

Myself and three other of my friends who play HOTS have also experienced this issue on AUS server, getting between 220-240ms.
If I change the server to Singapore ping will drop to around 120-140ms, even though it is about 10x the distance from the AUS server.

We all have different ISP and all have under 40ms for every other online game with a local AUS server.

Tracert results below if that helps…

Update:

I installed WTFast, which has improved the ping to about 70-80ms.
Not as good as the ~30ms I was receiving before, but at least the game is now playable on AUS server.

yep, like i said a gaming vpn can help with routing problems in many cases. the downside being the subscription. however, usually you can try before you buy to just see if it even helps. which is good.
