I love getting thanked when I peel for someone as Alarak lol. One of the best peels in my opinion. Getting thanked is always nice, especially as a healer though because you they are usually one of the most clutch moments of the game.
You might want to start there.
On one hand yeah, it kind of is dirty work, but itās also one of the least skilled. No to mention, there are also way too many people that actually put that mantle on themselves because they think itās sooo important, they concentrate on it to the exclusion of everything else.
You need to understand a lot as the soaker, watch the mini map like crazy, know how to manipulate the minions into your own favor.
How to react when your getting ganked, know how to still get value when the enemy outskills you. Know globally who wins vs who
If you take dmg you dont have a healer who can heal you up.
But the most important when to join a fight and when to soak
I call every role high skilled if you want to get good at it. If anyone is the least skilled it must be the auto attack heroes who just move+rightclick
Yes true but I dont mind soaking 1a2 waves when someone dies or when others are getting more value like doing a camp. 2 heroes who can do damage do it waaay faster then 1 damage + healer
yes, this is the most frustrating part of being a healerā¦ please donāt force your healers to lane, people
we care about our teamās exp so we WILL go lane if nobody else is doing it.
I will sometimes soak a wave on Rehgar to regain mana before a fight with his level 4 Lightning Shield talent. I have to admit, I am getting a little addicted to his playstyle.
If you really cared about it, you wouldnāt start laning, which causes your team to die, and furthering the gap.
This is indeed one of the most frustrating things about being a healer, but you should only be doing this for stop gap measures for 1-2 waves if people need to get camps or someone needs to back for mana.
You actually are better off losing the soak if youāre consistently being the one to attend to soak.
