Healer Appreciation Thread

But healing is like bottoming for gamers.

I always try my best to keep my team alive, Although a mistake I always make is playing like a tank despite being a healer ;-;
Well. I’m not really playing healer to get thanks. If they thank me, cool. If they don’t, it doesn’t matter. As Imperius says: “Do you expect “thanks” for fulfilling your duty!?” :joy:
(Although in exchange of healing them, they sometimes save me from death and stay alive too (whether you’re a brother or whether you’re a mother, you’re stayin’ alive :P)

But thanks for the appreciation ^^

Yeah, the true appreciation for me as a healer is to see my team succeed. I occasionally get thanked when I waste all my resources to save them but it isn’t usually the case. Then again the healers I play are either aggressive or have some playmaking potential so there are still moments where I could shine even in their eyes.

At times I don’t get directly congratulated yet I remain proud the same. Boss capture interrupted with their entire team ganging on us? All of us low and easy to pick? Not a problem because they were momentarily bunched up and I play Whitemane. My team is at full health in the next 3-5 seconds, their healer is bursted down and we roll them while one player deals the finishing blow and captures the boss. GJ and then GG is called and I know I did good.

There’s always one way you can truly appreciate my work… please don’t waste it. There’s nothing more annoying than when you do your role with excellence yet your team wastes that. As a sorta “Whitemane main” the list of things I can’t do is way outnumbereing the things I can. I am figuratively and literally incapable of doing everything alone. So please don’t add onto my misery.

Shout out to the player whose name I don’t remember but who saved by heavy as5 no less than 3 times in a ranked game with Divine Palms. Also to a player in another game who saved me with a clutch Ancestral when I got jumped and allowed me to turn around a decisive late game teamfight. I will never forget those deeds.

Slug is a healer too!

It’s lines like this that make Hoku one of my favourite forum posters.

I dont like healer mains. They are usually onetricks who cant play any much else and have the choise between 3 healers

I know alex is great but dont force me to draft
around that every time I play with you

Personally, I think the most thankless role is Tank unless you land a 3-5 man mosh. Not to take away the thunder of the healers. They just get the most heat. Every game there’s literally somebody blaming a tank for not “peeling” enough, as if 1 tank can peel for 4 heroes every second of a teamfight.

I appreciate my healer that never heals me. Thanks for prioritizing an almost full HP hero, vs me at 1/4 health

Thank you so much for allowing me to afk my death away. I really needed to make a cup of coffee

When i complain about a tank not peeling. Its because he is charging in solo expecting to be a God. Instead of protecting the backline
When I pick tank, I play backline tank. Waiting for an enemy to engage with a friendly, then i go in and control that over extension to ensure a kill, while saving a teammate. Thats the role of tank

Well, still better than players who always choose Tracer or even Li-Ming.
Or “flex” players who pre-pick mages when we have 1 mage, 1 AA, 1 bruiser and 1 healer.

Although I do admit I pick Whitemane way more often than I should…

Or the dps are so bad positioned themselves, that they are easy prey for the opponent.

If it makes you feel better, I play most healers and have a few ranged assassins, some tanks, and currently working on a bruiser or two for my group of playable characters. Being a Abby player I do at least know the basic combos of most characters as a fall back.

Don’t ask me to play Morales though. I can do it, but god is she boring and I hate it.

I knew you dislike me. You were just using me :frowning:

Same could be said about any role to be honest. Anyone who is unwilling to flex if needed is unpleasant to play with. And anyone who demands others flex for them is probably worse.

But the absolute worst are the ones who say they can heal, don’t pick until the end, and pick a hero the enemy team easily counters or doesn’t work well with your team and says “sorry I only know this healer”, like really? I literally could have healed.

Not really, the sub masochists are really tanks. They’re the ones who have to beg for healers for heals :smirk::smirk:

I always get thanked when I do a good job healing. People love it when you save them with a clutch heal. I think tanking is much more thankless.

Thank you. Someone who understands this too too well. Being a support main and having to try to save a bad engage or decision and then they actually do survive and everyone gives them the praise. You be dead 10 times over without a good healer.

Healers get tons of appreciation already, for example if you do a ancestral people will usually say thank you.
Soakers who do the dirty work are usually the one who does the unappriciated job

I never know if I’m a bad healer, or my team is bad at engaging/peeling/killing, or both.

It’s the role I most enjoy, but I don’t seem to do very well in it.

But thanks for the thanks, anyway.

And if, as the healer, you are forced to go soak because no one else is doing it…it’s just such a terrible conundrum.
