Hasher22 - "Reconnecting..."

I am having the same problem…

It would randomly go to “reconnecting” then stay there… I have to force exit then rejoin the game!

My internet is stable!!! First time in years been doing this!

Hey there! Thank you for reaching out, as it can understandably be frustrating to have a technical issue occur when simply trying to enjoy your gaming time. This is a bit of a generic connection error, and can have a few causes ranging from corrupted local files to a network-related problem. Try the following to narrow this down further:

  1. Try a DNS Flush to clear out any corrupted or stagnate data.
  2. Fully update or temporarily uninstall security programs which may be interfering with your connection to the server(s). More information on troubleshooting security applications here, if curious.
  3. Test an alternate network such as a mobile hotspot to determine whether the problem is isolated to your current network.

If you’re still unable to connect, please run a WinMTR network test so that we can further investigate the problem. Here are the instructions:

  1. Download the tool from this page
  2. In the “Host” field, enter “us.actual.battle.net” (without quotes).
  3. Start the test and play the game as normal. Ensure the “Reconnecting…” error occurs while the winMTR tool is running.
  4. After recording data for about 5 minutes, click “export text” and save the winMTR file in an easy to find location.
  5. Once you have that made, open the file. You’ll need to copy and paste the contents of the Text document into the post, and put four Tilde (~) marks above the winMTR. It’ll look like this:
WinMTR goes here

If you have issues pasting here, please use Pastebin and post the link (ex: Pastebin (dot) com/123456).

Nothing worked

1 - Didn’t work
2 - Didn’t work
3 - Hotspotted my mobile phone… didn’t work

The program, the “reconnecting” shows up either 5 mins, 10 mins or 40 mins or even 2 hours into the game being opened. How can I even run the program for 5 minutes when the reconnect is random

I have repaired and uninstalled and reinstalled the game - didn’t fix

Howdy hasher22,

Would you be able to provide the WinMTR that was requested so we can take a closer look?

I don’t know how long I had it running. Since the forever reconnecting happens randomly. But at least once every time I open the game. But I can run the test again longer.

It looks like there are 57ms latency spikes to the modem which may indicate wireless interference. It also looks like there is 1% packet loss to the ISP with 136ms latency spikes. The best step would be to try a wired connection to help reduce the early latency spikes.

I am on an ethernet connection…

If so, the latency shouldn’t be spiking that high. This typically indicates a problem with the ethernet cable, modem or network card inside the computer. You may want to start by swapping the ends of the ethernet cable around so that the end that was in the computer is in the modem instead, or replacing the ethernet cable entirely. Otherwise, you will likely need to contact the ISP to have them pinpoint what is causing the latency spikes to the modem on the wired connection.
