Grom Hellscream (Hero Concept)

Grommash Hellscream, Warlord of The Orcs, is a Melee Assassin Hero from the Warcraft Universe. He was the legendary Chieftain of the Warsong clan, a powerful warrior and best friend and chief advisor to Warchief Thrall. He was the first orc who drank the blood of Mannoroth the Destructor, thus binding the Horde to the Burning Legion — and he would eventually pay the ultimate price to free himself and his people from the Blood Curse, and now he’s ready to get some action again in the Nexus.

I like the thought, but it doesn’t feel quite enough. What if his trait was the Iron Will, giving him natural resistance and his 2nd Heroic was the Chaos Form, giving him the ultimate Berserk with it? Also, his roar could give a buff and the Axe can be a temporary rage, using so many auto attacks, then switching to another enemy.

How about this one? I tried to take your advice and i think it turned out pretty alright!!

I’m definitely #TeamHellscream. I wasn’t sure how I felt about your idea of Grom as a hero but this particular part was interesting to me with the HP component. It sort of goes along with him slaying Mannoroth and giving his life in the process. One can further this with the “Bloodrage” ability that Warriors have in WoW.

That said, I do think Grom should have a bit of flavor from the warrior class in WoW, Blade Master (like in WC3), and his own lore-based abilities like the one I mentioned above. My favorite bit of lore surrounding Gorehowl is that it goes perfectly with the Warsong Clan in that it can be heard singing in the wind as it decimated foes. I always thought of it as hearing your doom and knowing your time has come.

Thank you for the comment, i’ll try to look up on that Warrior Class of WoW and see if i can incorporate it with Grom

Awesome! I check the forums more often these days so I’ll look out for it. I have a fear that we’ll never get Grom if we don’t work together to let Blizz know we’ve waited long enough.

Hopefully someday Blizz will finally give us Grom and do him some serious justice!

Thank you, and look out for the improvements i’ll be doing for Grom’s Concept!!

i liked the basic abilities but the ults and trait felt off maybe the trait can be that he ignores armor and deals extra damage to shields also i had an idea for an ult a while ago which is a quest when like deal damage or deal damage to shields and when you complete it grom becomes red and he gain attack damage like a lot of it i also had another different idea for a similar ult when used gain massive damage but you lose a bit of control like grom randomly charges at people

I like the idea but I had problem with the E and D if you want to do 2 forms which you can switch there needs to be a main idea for one and a different for the other like in smite ullr can switch between melee and ranger the melee gains movement speed and damage so I would suggest do something like orc form gains mana and hp and chaos form gains damage but loses a massive hp the just didn’t make sense for from he can’t use arcane or any kind of magic or spells his abilities have to be something that makes sense like throwing his axe I liked that one

Ahhh ok, but seriously i understand nothing on the last part of your comment, mind clarifying it up? Sorry…

Also initially, i did go on that plan, like his Orcish form regenerates more HP and Mana while the other buffs in exchange for regeneration or something like that (you know what i mean…) but i got a comment way before, that it feels kinda off and rather too complex to play for an orc, especially Grom wasnt like into forms as such, and they said it doesnt feel satisfying to play him, especially if “thats” the only things he gains on both said forms…

So i thought of changing it up a bit, as both forms gives advantages and disadvantages so it doesnt feel OP and still kinda balance (i think ), same abilities with just some additional effects without the need of a drastic change when his using both mode back and forth, so yeah… Thank you commenting though!! I’ll try again to change it up if i can!!!

i like the trait but i think his trait shouldn’t be a permanent quest, it should be recharge every time (like some of maiev’s talents) and last for limited duration, while increasing its effect so its more important to use it at the right moment.
also making it benefit from each time you take damage isnt good, so many dots and fast aa heroes will just charge it in no time…
i think this with your idea of different buffs to abilities between the forms can be very interesting!

i don’t understand Blood Curse having to kill something in order to end a dot makes i too good on tf, and too bad on laning
also how are they suppose to kill something if they are feared or taunted?

Gorehowl’s Deathblow maybe make cost % of your current hp and damage the target for the % of max hp you lost + (additional base amount)- so its not too similar to gm’s or malth’s ults

Mak’Rogahn is a kind of taunt with self debuff (and if it has a long duration it would just remove an enemy mage, without any skill…) so i dont really see it work as it is… i dont have ideas for it at the moment…

soul gem is only good for its passive, which is op.
revealing all enemy heroes all the time is broken for every level of talent- it tells you if they boss, merk go to obj, or gank without any counterability…
and 10 kills is way too much, kz has to collect 10 orbs to do so… maybe reduce number of kills (depends on its tier) and get rid of the passive.

his W and E seems good, just buff the chaos form buffs.
hope to see more updates and ideas from you :smiley_cat:

Hmmm… i guess im back to the drawing board  it seems that i made the concept more complicated than i thought… well Thank you for the review everyone!!

So going back, i have a question, what do you mean by Maiev’s talents that relates to Grom’s trait? Sorry i got a bit confused there

Second, The Blood Curse ability is basically Dota 2s Axe’s Ability Battle Hunger, its the reason why the enemy hero needs to kill in order forthe debuff itself to end so that the unit doesnt take DoT effect any longer, and they can do it “After” the Taunt or Fear is over.

For the Gorehowl’s Deathblow, again this is Dota 2s Axe’s Ability Culling Blade, in which i thought its perfect for Grom due to his lore destroying Mannoroth with almost one strike, although you do have a point on the rescailing of his backlash damage so that it doesnt have any similarity to the other said heroes’ ult, also whos GM? Just asking

The Mak’Rogahn, is again (so sorry ) basically Dota 2s Legion Commader’s Ult, Duel, in which Grom and the enemy hero battle each other with basic attacks (since both cant use abilities, kinda like Silenced) whoever dies or deals more damage, wins and gain permanent bonus power!!! I dont see any reason why this skill wouldnt work and be implemented on hots? I mean its not that complicated… (i think )

And lastly for the Soul Gem, its passive just reveals while Grom is being revived, much like Medivh’s Dust of Appearance, i didnt meant to make it look or sound like it reveals stealth heroes “All” the time, (though i wouldnt mind that happening if it against Valeera or Nova )

Ahh okay, i’ll try to Buff the effects of his W and E abilities in chaos form, i did tried my best of implementing his original skills in WoW, especially his “W” ability Hellish Roar. In WoW, the Roar he makes always crits so thats the reason why its like that…

I’m not really digging this concept (definitely not okay with him copying Zul’jin’s boomerang axe thing and the chaos trait seems a little sloppy), but it renews my faith that Grom can still be a hero. I like the idea of Blood Curse and Hellish Roar, but they need some tweaks. Not sure what his Q should be. Plus, I’m almost thinking he should be a bruiser-type warrior, or even a warrior/assassin multi-class.

On the other hand, the ults are just…no

Yeah, well i guess i cant blame you,
I do admit that his Chaos form could use some work, although he already used his “Q” ability back in WoW so i’m just reusing it for him sooo you know why? I mean he already used it…

And yes the “W” and “E” could use some tweaks as the others suggest, i just dont know what exactly, i really cant drastically change everything especially his “W” ability as he already used it back in WoW (with some changes that is).

And i think he doesnt need to be a multi class, he isnt as tanky, as he was easily killed off and died, and i dont want Grom to steal the Warrior Spotlight from Garrosh, so him being a Assassin only seems better, plus it gives both Grom and Garrosh like the ultimate duo vibe and almost feels like theyre working together if they are on the same team… :grinning:

Plus the Ults i think are almost perfect for him, especially the Deathblow one as it suits him quite nicely, lorewise, and we dont have an Ult that functions like his Mak’Rogahn so yeah…

Thank you for the review though, expect some changes soon!! And if you have other suggestions especially on the ults and buff effect feel free to say so, as long its doable

Fel blood as a heroic trait or hero trait a choice or something maybe.
Grom drinks fel blood becomes powerful to kill cenarius in wc3 and turned their lose around and fought night elves back.
Warsong clan is supposed to be fast or something right? So warsong supreme could permanently increase his speed.

Sure i will do my best to at least put out some of the great suggestions and further improve it but for later, as it kinda drained me out because of him… Thanks!!

A really cool legendary skin would be Deathscream, where Grom is a Dk and/or has the place or Dranosh. Another that can be legendary is if he was a ghoul or undead of some type.(Murdered, but raised to life… well… not entirely…)
