Game Unusably Zoomed In

When starting a game, the view is zoomed in too close to play. Using mouse wheel or keyboard allows me to zoom in further, but not zoom out past the (unusable) starting view.

As a reference, with the view scrolled out as much as possible, the circle area around the core takes up 2/3 of the screen side to side, and nearly full screen top to bottom.

Debug info:
-Graphics set for 1600 x 900 (I believe this was the setting I’ve always used). Changing it , or lowering the detail settings had no effect on issue.
-Resetting default program setting had no effect on issue.
-Running “Scan and Repair” from launcher had no effect on issue.
-No other programs have had graphics issues, and memory demands haven’t changed.

try going into ./Documents/Heroes of the Storm/
find the Variables.txt
and move it to the desktop so that it is not in that folder anymore.

now start up Heroes of the Storm and it will create a new file. you probably will see that any graphic settings and such will have been reset, but do not set set anything right now. go try a game with AI team vs AI enemies and see if you still have issues.

Thanks for the suggestion, Morogoth. Unfortunately moving the Variables.txt file had no effect.

ok,
what you should do to get further help is post your DXDiag. that way whoever comes along knows your hardware, windows version, etc.

Same issue and it only started in 2024

resolved by opening the variables.txt file and then updating the “displaymode” mode property from 2 to 1.

If you use Nvidia, the answer you are looking for can be found here.
The Nvidia app is recommending the wrong display for Hots.
