Game "unexpectedly quit" on launch with M1 Macbook

I have a 2020 Macbook with the new M1 chip, and every time I click play from the Battlenet launcher I receive an error saying “Heroes unexpectedly quit” without the game ever opening its main screen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, checked for permissions, but can’t seem to figure out the issue.

For the “Quit unexpectedly” crash, we’ve seen some success with having players change their Mac system name to something different. Give this a try:

  • On Mac Apple menu, go to System Preferences/Sharing
  • Change Computer Name to something different.
  • Click on Edit and then Okay.
  • Close Preferences window.
  • Test game again.
