I have been unable to launch HoTS for at least a month or two. Instead of launching the game, I get a screen telling me I have a fatal error and the game won’t launch. I have tried all the potential solutions except resetting my computer.
I see from the log that I have an access violation error. From what I saw in other forum points, that may point to programs like onedrive or RAM, but I don’t have onedrive installed, so I assume it’s the RAM, but I really have no idea.
Here’s the error code:

Hey there,
Thanks for the error code! After looking over the logs I have a few ideas that you can try that may help with this one.
- In Windows 10 go to Start → Settings (for Windows 7 open the Control Panel)
- Click on Apps (for Windows 7 click Uninstall a program)
- Uninstall the Battle.net app
- Press Windows key + R
- Type the following into the Run window and hit Enter: %APPDATA%
- Delete the Battle.net and Blizzard folders inside the appdata folder if they exist.
- Repeat steps 4-6 with %LOCALAPPDATA% and %PROGRAMDATA%
- Empty the recycle bin.
Now reinstall the Battle.net app: Battle.net App – Blizzard Entertainment
If that doesn’t work, try reinstalling Heroes of the Storm on the C: drive and then test it again.
I’m still getting the same error after trying everything in your post, unfortunately.

Howdy HealthyTaco,
Can you provide a DxDiag and the HotS error log?
- Press Windows Key + R.
- Type DxDiag and press Enter.
- In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
- Name the file “dxdiag” and click Save
- Paste the DXdiag into the post, select and highlight everything you just pasted, and hit the “preformated text” button (</>). That’ll make the information much more readable.
It should look like this.
If you have issues pasting here, please use Pastebin and post the link (ex: Pastebin (dot) com/123456).
It looks like OneDrive is on the system and crashing. Did you try disabling or removing that in the past?
Yeah, I uninstalled the program file, and all I can find in a taskbar search is just the OneDrive setup program
Sometimes things can get stuck when OneDrive is removed. You may need to reinstall it, then configure the Documents folder not to sync with OneDrive.
I seem to be having some issues with installing OneDrive, will try to get it fixed
